mrvtec:

War10ck: I believe it's the hardware/band. My wife is on the same network, she's using iphone 12 and she gets 5g just fine without configuring anything. I'm also having issues with connecting to bluetooth for my car. It can pair and connect just fine the first time but won't the 2nd time around. Apart from those issues I'm happy with my pixel. I'm adjusting slowly with the screen size as I'm coming from Samsung note 8.

enable developer options and change the AVRCP version

i dont think its related to the band, because users with the 765G chipset in other phones are getting 5G in NZ, i think something needs to be enabled, at the account level, or the device is just being blocked. i havent had time to put some time asisde to try get intouch with vodafone tech support,

Is it possibly because Pixel 5 isn't officially supported here so it can't automatically connect (like how a 5G phone sold at a Vodafone store would as it's already got network settings).
So a manual change in the backend is needed to make it work?

FYI the total cost of a pixel 5 from mobileciti on eBay is $1400. They sting you with $290 in taxes at the border.

I've tried that but still not stable. I'm using fm bluetooth transmitter though. Anyone else have the same bluetooth device and have no problem? I'm thinking maybe my transmitter has an old bluetooth technology.

I have no bluetooth issues with mine. It connects to my car automatically every time.

Are you connecting directly to your car's bluetooth? I'm connecting to an accessory fm bluetooth transmitter. I'm planning on buying a different model but I'm just afraid it might just be the same thing. Apart from that it connects fine on my other bluetooth devices.

Yes I connect directly to the cars. It's probably your adapter.

I had a ton of Bluetooth issues with Pixel with both Bluetooth headphones and the factory stereo in our Subaru and Suzuki - in developer option there were a couple of settings that I changed and it made it better but not as good as I’d hoped.

If you hunt around reddit for pixel car Bluetooth issue you should find some useful posts

Hey guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Pixel 5 from Dicksmith. Can someone confirm there's no customs duty that I need to pay when the phone gets here?

I'm curious too.

Also looking at using Zip Pay - which I understand is like a  hire purchase/layby option.

Hi,

I bought a Pixel 5 last week to try and fix an issue with CarPlay on my car (see this post https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=162&topicid=191715&page_no=213#2684747)

It did not fix the issue and the dealer has just advised there is a firmware fix for the car that resolves my issues. So, long story short, I'm going to keep the iPhone and going to sell the Pixel 5.

Bought last week for $1079, so brand new and happy to look at offers to sell. Will be on trademe by end of week if no interest.....I have a case for it as well so happy to throw that in....

PM if any interest....

Chris.
