JohnnoW:
Milestone - a phone a year old and at end-of-life - seems an odd choice for a "new technology" network service provider.
Just odd.
And even more worrying (and the other reason I went to the Nexus One) the MileStone and Droid 1 do not meet hardware spec for Android 3, which is fast approaching...
But then again, August 5 sounds about right for the release date for the Droid 2 - surely Telecom wouldn't be hanging out and getting the latest and greatest??? Now *that* might cause me to move on it :).

Behodar: You can't use an Evo on Telecom anyway due to the ESN whitelist.

CJbravo: Finally. Milestone apparently launching Thursday 5 Aug on XT. Time to dust off the piggy-bank...!

Hi :). Why are you choosing the milestone over the other devices out there? Nexus, Desire, Galaxy S?
Is it because of the physical keyboard, because its on telecom? Why?
Having a ahrd time deciding which android to get so like to hear peoples opinions for why they choose one device over another.

Hey, yeah no worries. Nexus didn't really do it for me, and the Desire is really nice but friends are getting less than 2 days battery life with average usage which just gets frustrating (I suspect the amazingly huge screen takes a lot of juice) and no use for taking away for a weekend. Physical keyboard is a big factor for me, so yes that was a big vote for the Milestone. Sounds like there's going to be a good offer from Telecom for its launch as well. So I'll check it out in person to see what it's like first - it's just my current front-runner. Another one I'm considering (like you!) is the Galaxy but I'd bet that won't be here for another few months (by which time Windows Phone 7 is out and the whole ballpark shifts again...!).

M_I_C_H_A_E_L: I see. Well I would jump at the milestone however its hardware specs are just abit lower than the other options. Example 800mhz compared to 1ghz. Ive read android 3.0 minimum requirements mean you need 1.0ghz - so that would mean the milestone wont be able to get android 3.0
I dont really want to get a phone that doesnt get updated as much as others. I mean it looks nice and everything, just a few things here and there that dont work for me. But everybody is different :)

In a nutshell, when each phone gets its Telepermit, its ESN (unique identifier) is added to a list of "allowed" devices. No Telepermit = can't be used on Telecom's CDMA network.
