Thanks for that! I was seeing high battery usage and heating up too. I have done just that and it has stayed as cool as....a....cool thing....

Hi, another update on the Android 2.2 update failure:

I just spoke to Mobicity. Apparently several other users have also reported that their recently-purchased HTC A8181 Desires are entering this reboot/error message cycle on update to Android 2.2.

Looks like the over-the-air Android 2,2 update is not compatible with the ROM that was shipped with these devices (perhaps the ROM is the wrong version or wrong region? - mine was sent from Hong Kong).

I liked the device for the brief period it worked, but this is not endearing me to the Android platform...

Mine is from Clove and has been great so far, except that swype stopped working for some reason, even after reinstalling.

EDIT: Oops looks like you have to uninstall both the installer and swype then reinstall.

That was my thought. But the phone shipped directly from Hong Kong, and the Mobicity guy said it was straight from the factory.

If it has been debranded somewhere along the line, it looks like using a goldcard during the update might solve the problem, but I don't have one, and don't want to go through this rigmorole every time I update Android.

I made a goldcard a while ago, you are welcome to try it but might need to do some research first to see if it will work on another phone. PM me if you like

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this. I have 3 Google Apps account registered, with email sync enabled for all of them. In Eclair it was working just fine and I was notified when emails arrived in any of these 3 mailboxes.

Now that I'm running Froyo it has been one point that's really p*ssing me off! It has been updating the account I registered first, but not the other two! I got suspicious when I noticed there were no emails in one of the other two accounts. I went into Google Mail and refreshed that account, and voila! 7 new emails that actually arrived throughout the day! GRRRR! What's happened? Why have these accounts suddenly stopped "pushing" emails?

Interesting.. I received a Mobicity HTC A8181 Desire a couple of weeks ago.. and upgraded it last night to Froyo with no issues.. EXCEPT the FM Radio no longer works.. it force closes every time I open it :( Anyone else have that same issue?

Do you use the google or HTC mail app? I only have one google account on my phone, but it was doing a few strange things yesterday. I removed the account from the HTC mail app, then added it again, and my problems went away.

Googling the issue, it seems there are a couple of others out there with the same problem.
The download was OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip is this the same as what everyone else has downloaded?

Fixed the FM Radio issue.. I cleared all data from FM Radio under Application info.. and it is now working... Yeah!!

ok those of you with the telstra desire might want to hold of on updating.

i flashed this rom and the new radio ...and wo and behold ... lost my gps again.

grrrr.. was working fine on MCR r3.1 ... so yeh ..might pay to wait for pauls rom ...i'll let ya know how it goes

I have noticed that my dolphin browser is no longer reformating text on pages when it zooms right in, dolphin did say they were about to release a major update though.
