I was beginning to see the lag on several apps on my JP6-laden phone....Mainly Twydroyd and a couple of others that got really slow to respsond. At the same time, I had also changed the font to Rosemary....which made the phone virtually unusable. It seems to cache the new font once it has rendered it in a new context, but the FIRST time for each context could take up to 30 seconds.....

I switched back to default font that came right immediately. It was an easy decision as the new font was too small to read anyway.

I also went through all the apps installed and moved them all to the sdcard if they allowed it.....except Beautiful Widgets.

The result is that I boot up, the icons take a little longer to draw as the phone does all its various media scans....but after that, any lag is pretty much gone.....hopefully because less of the data is being accessed from the internal app storage and more of it from the sdcard...which has to be FAT32 (I'm thinking).

So in the absence of a "lagfix" (as in: I haven't installed one yet) - so far, just experimenting - moving apps to the SD seems to help.

The signature is originally done because I mainly contributed in the HTPC/Home Theatre/Freeview forums and regurgitating it every time I contributed just seemed wasteful.
Maybe I'll re-evaluate and just put 'some tech stuff'.

Supercurio from XDA Forums has made a preview build of the Voodoo lag fix for Froyo. It does require flashing the kernel via Odin though. http://project-voodoo.org/

Internal - by default - as far as I can tell. That's FAT32 or Windows wouldn't be able to see it....is my line of thinking. Surely the phone wouldn't do some kind of file system translation from RFS?? That would just be bizarre.

(Completely aside) Note: Tweetdeck logging in to Three twitter accounts, Facebook and Buzz....DOES slow your phone down. I'll probably ditch it though being able to post on all/most accounts at the same time is pretty handy for some things.

I am installing the Voodoo lag fix for Froyo at the moment so hopefully it removes all of my lag issues.

I'm on stock JP6 and I'm happy with performance overall. Any "lag" seems to have been related to specific apps behaving badly....like Tweetdeck....or when I changed the font.

Moving all the apps i could to the sd seems to have also helped. But I'm on Launcher Pro (with key)...and everything is pretty sweet.

So far...

I'm wondering if there isn't some kind of 'threshold' in RFS for things slowing down. The phone went like a rocket until I had about 200MB of apps on it....and then I began to see some slow down....but moving apps to SD seems to have helped - perhaps by crawling back toward some threshold.

I have about 700mb of apps. Even if you think you don't have lag once you try voodoo it's like night and day

The JP6 has been pulled from Nordic countries due to some complications in the software. I read it on the XDA. I'm not sure how much that affects you guys who flashed to it with a reg hack.

Maybe they want to fix the performance issues? Generally it seems pretty decent, although the browser is very slow now even with Flash disabled. GPS Seems to work a lot better although is not super accurate still.

I'm going to try it. The phone is becoming unusable at times. Long delays in response...anywhere up to several *minutes* when sharing data between apps repeatedly. The first couple of times are usually OK.

Example: Take a panorama photo, share to picsay pro, edit / modify, then export to Twitter and / or Facebook.....repeat this several times. If you haven't nearly killed the phone by the third round it's a miracle.

My Nexus One could do that stuff over and over. To be fair, the camera in the Nexus couldn't do 8-frame panoramas while the Galaxy S can - and it does them REALLY well.....so that may be a big part of my problem. I'm really liking the panorama capability.

I'm on stock JP6 with Launcher Pro. Tried switching to TouchWiz. No real improvement and the apparently 'random' arrangement of app icons in the app tray made it a pain in the arse to find anything....and I still haven't worked out how to change the four default apps on the TW Launcher. "Edit" doesn't help.

I think with TouchWiz you can just drag the apps off and put new ones in if you have the application menu open. If you want to install Voodoo and have Root make sure you use the SuperOneClick root first and also make sure you don't have clockworkmod recovery installed or any other lag fixes. also backup all of your applications just in case.
