Tried to copy some files from my girlfriend's Windows XP laptop to the Galaxy Nexus / GT-I9250, but driver wouldn't install - getting error:

   Samsung mobile MTP device

The required section was not found in the inf

Turns out I needed to upgrade from Windows Media Player 9 to Windows Media Player 11... once that is done the driver installs fine - WTF! For anyone else wanting to use XP this is a useful thing to know eh??! Cheers

spent some time playing with the Nexus (Verizon) at the Samsung booth at CES today. It's much lighter than I expected and I think the HDPDA+ version is even lighter. The phone is also smaller than I had expected and I don't think I would have much issue using one with one hand.

Now to find a HSPDA version to purchase over here.

Could someone who has got the OTA 4.02 update tell me what Baseband version you're running now. Thanks.

Samsung branded retailer told me the Nexus is not going to be released in NZ!

Obviously high chance he is clueless (decision depends on carriers?) but interesting to hear it from someone somewhat close to source...

PS. I think I prefer S2 hardware (micro SD, advantages of being common), but got Nexus only to get auto updates (will know after a time if decision worth it).

I am about to purchase the Galaxy Nexus from a friend in HK who is coming back here. There is a deal on at the moment from Samsung that if you purchase the phone (likely from an authorised dealer or store like Broadway or Fortress) then you can get a genuine Samsung battery with NFC for $99(HK). I am not sure what the means? Is the NFC chip in the phone in the battery or in the phone itself?

Looking forward to getting the new phone since my N1 power button has died again (3rd time!). While HTC US are willing to give me a refurbished phone for free, it's a hassle sending it back to them, having them send to a friend in the US who then sends it back to me.

Thanks

@Ichiu7: NFC antenna is built into battery. Feels likr NFC is a completely useless feature though :-) I would recommend get a S2 and upgrade it to ICS, because: Nexus is not going to be released in NZ (so no locally available accessories etc), screen scratches easily (make sure you get screen protectors from HK), no MicroSD is a pain.

@mynlydz: Chrome Beta looks to only be available to US... I found it in store from web link, but no Install option available.

Use market enabler (found on android market) and in the second tab select t-mobile. I'm running it on my S2 at the moment.

I just downloaded the apk from xda and running on it on my Xoom. Market Enabler requires rooting IIRC.

Not sure I like it - prefer the stock browser on ICS.
