I have both the galaxy S2 and the nexus.  I live by the beach.  The S2 screen is slightly brighter and easier to see when on the beach and sun behind you.  You can still see the screen on the nexus.   As experiments I have taken photos with both of same things on beach into the sun and with sun behind and in all tests the Nexus is way ahead of the s2 when sun in front.   Have taken photos around town and home and honestly in everyday photos even though the S2 has 8mp camera and the Nexus a 5mp camera, even magnifying on the computer it is almost impossible to tell the difference between them.
With the Nexus I was always accidently calling people when in the phone app and contacts.  I would just touch to scroll and it would ring the contact I had lightly touched.      I have installed go contacts ex and overcome that.
Call quality I have found about the same on both.
Playing movies and music without earphones the S2 has the louder volume and helpful in noisy places  but I feel the audio on the Nexus is a little clearer.
The music player on S2 doesnt show the album art where on the Nexus the music player shows the album art
Overall I much prefer the Nexus. It may be slightly larger and really with both together very little difference in width with Nexus longer.  But the Nexus for me is far more comfortable in the hand.
Only unknown is how the Nexus would handle if I accidently drop on concrete which I hope never to find out.
So overall I would go for Nexus.

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

I would agree with that, I've had 3 S2's now and 1 Nexus and I would buy another Nexus before I got an S2, only just though.

Can't make my mind up between the Nexus and the Note.

I love the size of the Note and the Nexus seems to be that happy medium. The exandable memory isn't an issue for me, the cameras, hmm I could probably overcome the difference as I don't use my phone camera too much anyway.

Got pretty big hands and found the Note pretty comfortable to use.

The only thing putting me off is the price difference, can get the note off eBay for about $705 and the Nexus for about $590.

Any thoughts?

CdTDroiD: So how you finding the Nexus mate
No regrets whatsoever. Thanks for the advice. Although I am not sure about what sort of case (TPU, Silicon, Hybrid, Leather book, etc) to get - any thoughts?

Ever tried an Otterbox? Also, are anti-glare screen protectors worth it? (Or is clear better in your opinion???)

I hate the antiglare ones. Pain in the bum. Otterbox i have for my 4S and its good but real bulky and the plastic screen protector built in is crap.

Haha yea sorry, well the note is a bit big for a phone, cool toy but to big for me and I have big ape hands.

Second the Samsung touch wiz is crap, of course you can use a different launcher but the lock screen sucks as well. Takes ages to wake up.

Faster updates on the nexus, Better OS all round as a natural google ICS OS

Both pretty cool but I lasted 4 days I think with the note lol, I like big phones to, just think its a bit to far lol.

Nexus is a real nice clean device and runs super fast. Like i said before I just bought another one today as something to play with before I get my one x. And I love it (again) lol
