It's very different just the name alone tells you the difference

VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE aka 4G

obsshn: Security patch May 1st is out (Spark)

I'm with Spark and I got the May 1st security patch on June 6th. I ran a manual check for updates that day for the first time in a week or so, so it may have even been available before then.

https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_begins_rolling_out_night_mode_for_galaxy_note9_with_latest_software_update-news-37609.php

A week after the Galaxy S9 and S9+ received their dedicated Night mode, the Galaxy Note9 is getting the same treatment. The new firmware version N960FXXU3CSF9 has already begun rolling out to Galaxy Note9 units in Germany and weighs in at 704MB.

The main improvements with the new patch are in the camera department where users will be able to capture more detailed shots in low light scenarios with less noise compared to the existing scene optimizer. Another welcome addition is a built-in QR-code scanner available directly in the camera app.

Nice to know we are still getting new features after 10 months. How much of an improvement it actually makes, that will be interesting to see. The S10 Night mode seems to take half-decent photos.

Well, someone is going to be the favourite son.

It has been a really great phone, and convinced me that for Samsung's foibles, their phones are probably the best combination of hardware and software experience in the Android sphere. But certainly I feel like I got the premium product I paid a premium price for.

In saying that, after using an s10, I think I would probably be happy with an s series phone. I like the form factor better and, predictably, don't really use the pen enough to justify it. Only really as a remote for taking photos and when I force myself to take the occasional note.

July update available on 2degrees. Release notes say "Improved performance - Camera" as well as the usual security patch.

Unless I am the last person here with a Note 9, so I may be talking to myself....

Hi Shiny,

With the loss of the headphone jack, no indication of improved battery life (my only pet peeve with the current one), etc., etc., I plan to be keeping this one around for a while :).

My only real peeve (and it's a REAL peeve) is the reduced battery life. When I first got the 9, it would easily go two days on a charge - not comfortably, but with light usage it could do it. Over the last few months, I found myself going into the red (charge-wise) day after day. I searched for problem apps, etc., and eventually found that screen brightness had been turned way up (don't recall, butI could have done that).

After turning the brightness down, battery life increased considerably - I started ending the day with almost 50% on the meter. But since then, it's been creeping down... down... 'til I end the day in the 30%s, then the 20%s, and now I'm starting to go back into the teens. It doesn't seem correlated with my usage, as far as I can tell. Of course, it's not very scientific, but it just seems weird.

Just curious - is anyone else noticing anything similar?

(PS - FWIW, Spark here - same update)
