Oh man, work is so boring

S3!(Reviews, been looking at more photos)

Really digging the text while watching movie thing, saw a similar app StickIT which performs the same function, but runs pretty slow on the One-X

Edit: oh and congrats, and belated congrats on the babies.  Just make sure they are bought their first smartphone around the age of 2-3

lokhor:
Glengus: Contrary to my post a couple of days ago, my pre-order through telecom has not gone smoothly at all, as far as I can tell it is all back on track now.

I have some questions that someone may be able to help with though:

The Telecom website does not have many specifics on the phone, other than S3, colour, 16gb. Am I right to assume that it will be the international version talked about in all the reviews?

Telecom has recently been marketing its commitment to 4G/LTE technology, is it at all possible that the phone I pick up next week will be a dual core LTE version hinted at for the US market?  I would prefer to have a go with the quad core personally, 3G is fine.

This is the first phone I have sourced in NZ for quite a while, I can only assume that nowadays all are unlocked quad band - will work with any providers sim (microsim)! is this correct?

Any particular reason you ordered through Telecom as opposed to Warehouse Stationery?

I've been with telecom for ages, they have been trying to throw new phones at me for a while, so much cheaper than WHS. I have heard VF/2d still has poor reception in and around Palmy, I tried a VF sim for a while and was shocked how bad it was, making me a loyal customer!

Thanks for the useful answers!

May be irrelevant for us in NZ but I see samsung.com/nz/support has gt-i9300 manual for download (same EUR manual as in previously mentioned /UK/support download), but it also lists 'gt-i9300T' when you scroll through list of handsets (but with no documentation available) - not sure whether it is T for Telstra Australia or T for Telecom :)

Hey i'm new hahah Sealed

I've been reading this discussion for a while, but before i did i sent an email to WHS just to check whether the phone was locked (yeah i know it isn't now!). Anywho! i got a reply back today...

"Thank you for your email regarding the Samsung Galaxy mobile phones.  Please note that these phones are only for 2 degrees and not for any other network.  If you did require this item for another network, you will need to be in contact with the network that you deal with and they should be able to swap over the details".

Do you think she has any idea what shes talking about??

That sounds like a pretty standard response, in case APNs need to be loaded etc. She isn't saying you can't use it on another network, but they can't promise it will all work fine all the time. I don't know if it will come loaded with the Telecom or Voda APN's or not, many of their cheaper phones won't.

Yeah, it's a pretty neutral response from WHS. They can't be seen promoting 2degrees supplied S3 to another network.

The phone is Quad band and NZ carriers don't lock their phones (except Skinny) so you should be able to use it if you know how to change APN settings.

And neither colour available on pre-paid :(. Think it's off to WHS tonight to confirm if they get the handset sent to the store prior to embargo so it can be collected that day, or if they don't get sent from distribution centre until embargo date. Hope they still have a blue one :)

Just ordered pebble blue from WHS. They confirmed stores get delivered pre-order stock prior to the release date and they will be available for collection upon opening 31st May. Also said they received a stern message from head office today that no-one is to get phone early, even managers cannot open boxes, and the whole company would get in trouble if they didn't follow the rules :o
