networkn: Ugh, I heard unofficially that blue won't be here till at least Middle of June.

I really hope not. Why on earth did Samsung only made White one before the blue? Darker colour sell much faster than white.

Probably because we're a lower priority market than say the UK. There must be some production issue affecting throughput of the blue devices...

I would be devastating with a white phone :(
But I guess having the phone is still better than no having it at all. But seriously a white phone? My mind just not in sync with the colour right now lol

I think at least this time round, NZ is not falling behind other countries as far as launch/pre-order is concerned, unlike the original SGS and SGS2 where a lot of us have had to order from overseas online stores to get our hands on one.

You are right. I'm glad that we're on the same page as the rest of the world launch. Samsung did a good job in this but I think the demand is over loaded their production amount. I don't even think that Samsung has prepared for this sort of thing before. This is probably the first time that Samsung product got this much interest and pre-order level. Whereas this sort of thing happened to Apple all the time.

WHS assured me when I ordered that it would be waiting in store for me on the 31st so if it isn't I'm going to be hugely annoyed.
On a side note the Snapper app from Google Play and use it on any NFC-capable Android. So for those who use snapper in Wellington and on 2 degrees this will be pretty sweet when you get your S3 (Be it on time or weeks late).

It looks like they only have white units for sale in Dubai also (where the phone has been on sale for a few days already), so we are clearly not the only market affected by a shortfall...

He might mean handsomely devastating? Some people look good in white, yeah that's true.

There is no guarantee that the Snapper app will work with the Galaxy S3 as it needs to have specific software API support to be compatible, and that API support isn't a part of Android by default.

From what I have read if the Device is NFC capable then the phone has the required API for the Snapper app.

Was reading about NFC a little while ago when considering HOX. Not all android NFC setups are equal are the HOX wasn't guaranteed to be able to use the setup here 100%, but 2degrees have been pushing S3 for their setup (snapper and some cafes etc) so that's the one for me.

I also rang my local WHS this morning where I have a paid blue pre-order and was told they have sufficient stock (and also asked at time of order) so if I have to wait for a blue I will be having a few choice words with them.

I went to the Geekzone launch event here in Wellington and LG are using the Open Mobile API in the software stack of the LG Optimus Net. This is required for the Snapper NFC functionality to work. The Galaxy Nexus for example does not have this and thus does not support the Snapper functionality. It is very likely that the Galaxy S3 does not utilise the Open Mobile API and so also will not support Snapper functionality.

So does that mean the midnight launch etc from Vodafone is for the white phone only?

Well if WHS don't have my blue at release, i'll get angry and you won't like it when im angry.

Yes, white only - they state on their site they only have the white at launch.

There was even a giant one page VF ad in this morning's Herald with it clearly stating 'White model only available at launch'.
