Samsung nz can also not confirm if nz will have dual sims (as shown on their website with the little *selected markets) or single
DANOFDANGER: Yea i believe its region specific, each region has their specific bundles amd color options. Like for example, i believe US do not have midnight black.
I saw a video saying US has only Lilac and Blue.

I don't think on first look it offers a huge leap over the Note 8.
I'm a bit stuck - no one makes the phone I want combined with the software I want...!

Styling wise it looks very similar but what other device can list such an impressive feature set? The top end model is just a list of headline features:
6.4" QHD SuperAMOLED
Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810
8GB RAM
512GB storage AND a microSD slot that supports an additional 512GB
IP68 Water resistant
fast wired charging
fast wireless charging
Stylus
3.5mm headphone jack!!!
Iris scanner
Dual optically stabilised cameras that don't protrude from the body
variable aperture
slim bezels, no notch
DEX without need for dock
its a very impressive device, if I wasn't about to switch from Android to iOS I'd grab one.
I usually upgrade my Note every 2 years. Got my Note 8 last year so will not be getting this one

What are you after exactly.
The only improvements i would require myself, is a inscreen fingerprint reader, more processing power and less bezels. This note upgrade is just as good as the last, if not better. Its been highly underated. People forget that they expect revolution, but we have reached the age that there is very little to progress on. What happens when the bezels are no longer bezels, just screen. Well we move to hardware. What happens when hardware is as good as it needs to be. Well then we move to software.
We have nearly reached that stage where the body of the phone is almost non existant. So the biggest changes must come from hardware. What has samsung done with the note 9.
Increased battery capacity, something consumers have long awaited for the note series. Not just a small step, but from 3220 to 4000 mah. Nearly 25% increase.
The processing power has been increased nearly 50% over the previous generation, which is a much bigger step than the previous gen.
There is new product features accross the board, new s-pen features, new duel speakers, the option for more ram and internal memory if desired, new camera technology with dual aperture senors. If you dont know how important dynamic aperture is, then lets just say it makes a big difference. Increased cooling performance with new liquid cooling deisgn, improving gaming and heavy load experience by preventing heating induced slowdowns.
This is all while keeping it in a relatively simlar sized product as the previously gen galaxy note. But also reducing the height by 0.5mm, increasing the screen size by 0.1mm and a slightly increased width of 1.5mm to accomodate everything else they have added.
A Note that runs iOS...!
I'd like dual SIMs ideally and I expect there is a version of the Note 9 that has that which we won't get easily.
It's attractive overall (although I wish we had more colour choice in the larger memory version) and I must say the extra battery would be nice - I run my N8 with the mid battery saver mode on all the time and get about a day and a half on a good day. I just can't quite decide - possible an excess of choice.
I was thinking of the iPhone again but no one will be handing out $900 worth of freebies with that when it is launched in September I am sure - just a $2000 bill.
What colour is the GZ fave?
Edit - also which processor is in the NZ models and can anyone find a detailed spec sheet? I can only find headline specs and I would like to know what Bluetooth audio codecs it supports.
heavenlywild: Anyone seen a demo phone in the wild in any of the stores?
Seen in noel leeming and 2 degrees in queen st auckland. just seems same as note 8 when feel it and seemed a bit slow came with message to use spen to take selfie when tried.
For Samsung's Trade In program, why is it that iPhones are worth so much and in some instances, more than Galaxy phones? I have an iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung is offering $650 for it plus $300 boost, bringing the total to $950. I see a lot of listings on TradeMe of the same phone for around $550, and there doesn't even seem to be that much interest over them. Is this just a really generous trade in deal, or am I missing something here? If the deal is this good, then I might consider plonking down cash for a new Note 9.
