The screen protector adds additional rigidity to the display. I wouldn't risk it especially if Samsung still covers a new screen protector under warranty.

mudguard:

Have any Flip owners not bothered with the screen protector? My Flip4 is coming loose at the hinge and looks unsightly. I realise it can be replaced, but I'm wondering if it's also causing some glitches when I open the phone it up. A few times it hasn't woken when I've unfolded, and a few times the screen has become unresponsive and I wonder if it's simply the protector lifting slightly.

This happened with my wife’s Flip 4 also. Was replaced under warranty through Samsung. The 2D staff tried to blame my wife for opening the phone too many times.

Just got the press release (although saw it online yesterday) but before I post in news:

"Samsung has announced that Galaxy AI features will soon be available on more devices, furthering the democratisation of mobile AI. Rolling out from the end of March, a new One UI 6.1 update will be available across the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series."
