robocat: Samsung branded retailer told me the Nexus is not going to be released in NZ!

Obviously high chance he is clueless (decision depends on carriers?) but interesting to hear it from someone somewhat close to source...

Spoke to my Samsung rep the other day and confirmed Samsung NZ will not be getting the new Nexus.  Said plenty of stock of the first Samsung nexus left and that there should be an ICS update for it coming, also Samsung will be bringing in the "Samsung Note" soon and i think that will be their main focus in NZ.

Gosh aren't we lucky! They're pretty much the same phone anyway, they both have 'Samsung' and 'Nexus' in the name so what's the difference really?!

At least my parallel imported model will continue to be relatively unique, and I'll have an easier job tracking it down if somebody nicks it...

Interesting.. Is the Samsung Note not already the Galaxy Note already out or is there another Note to be released?

robocat: @Ichiu7: NFC antenna is built into battery. Feels likr NFC is a completely useless feature though :-) I would recommend get a S2 and upgrade it to ICS, because: Nexus is not going to be released in NZ (so no locally available accessories etc), screen scratches easily (make sure you get screen protectors from HK), no MicroSD is a pain.

@mynlydz: Chrome Beta looks to only be available to US... I found it in store from web link, but no Install option available.

NFC is probably not useful in NZ but on a trip to the US just completed recently I found many stores where I shopped us Paypass and Google Wallet. I didn't have a NFC phone but I was using the Onesmart Mastecard card from AirNZ which supports Paypass and it was rather cool just to be able to wave the card over the reader to make the payment. Though in some stores at a certain price level they did require me to sign my name on a digital pen pad.  I am guessing if I had the Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus I could have waved my phone over it.

No microSD is not an issue for me. I have had a N1 for two years and have lived fine with an 8G microSD card in it so having 16GB is more than enough. I have put most of my music into Google Music so I don't need to store it on the phone.

I got two spare batteries for the phone, an external charger (really essential) and screen protectors so I am good to go.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Vodafone are launching the Galaxy Note later this month, it's been available globally for a little while now. There are rumours of an update Note S to be launched at MWC though.

The whole Nexus thing falls in line with what I have been hearing, most positive thing I've heard is from a Vodafone call centre guy: "We plan to launch both" both being the Note and Nexus

I got a 'CaseMate barely there' but I don't like it much. It's not as good as the one I had on my old HTC Desire. It seems like it might be for the larger battery version of the Galaxy Nexus as there is a bit of space between the back of the phone and the case. You should check out http://www.androidnz.net/ as they have done 3 or 4 reviews on cases for the GN.

I bought a bunch of these... http://smu.gs/vIER2a

Kept a couple and sold most of the rest on TM... They are great but I've run out of black and no-one wants purple or Pink :-)

Fit very very snugly and excellent finish.

Cheers - N

Have any of you guys bought extended batteries for your devices. If you have whereabouts and roughly how much did you pay?
