Und3f: I just change my order to white. Apparently the blue batch got delayed due to battery cover colour had different blue shade from the phone and they recalled it.

Who is this according to?

Copied from Warehouse Stationary Website

   Release date:

White - 31st May 2012
Blue - Mid June

Email From Telecom
Hi Peter

I have heard back from our Mobile Provisioning team this morning.

Samsung Global had reported there is significant demand for the SG III Pebble Blue device globally

Samsung have only started production for worldwide distribution on the SG III Pebble Blues this week, so worldwide deliveries will be affected.

Our expected delivery date is 7 June, however this a tentative date only.

Kind regards,

XXXXXXX

Surely some genius at Samsung and/or retailers can work out that customers would rather have the phone now and get a replacement colour perfect battery cover at a later date?

Yeah, I agree with you. Release the phone and send them the new battery cover later right?

Is not the retailers - It Samsung globally. I reckon the retailer would have keep the phone if they arrived in their store already.

Pre-ordered in store at Victoria Street Warehouse Stationary (Wellington) this afternoon, asked for the blue one, dude said "yeah sure no problems"...paid. All good.

30 minutes later sure enough I recieve a phone call. The blue phones have been delayed until "mid June". I asked what specific date "mid Jnue" was and was told 13th of June.

Yep same here. Bit of an annoyance, now not sure if I should cancel in the meantime, especially if any parallel importers get the blue in first

wonder if it's due to the negative feed back the back cover of the blue device was getting.

when i first saw it i thought to myself ...yuck.  it wasn't till i saw it in videos with less intense lighting that i started to warm to it.

but press shots make it look more blue than the relative blackness of the front.

ideally i want a black phone ..so if they are gonna darken it up a bit ..guess thats a good thing. but yeh ...ship me the dam backplate ...give me my phone now!

avecha: So does that mean the midnight launch etc from Vodafone is for the white phone only?

Well if WHS don't have my blue at release, i'll get angry and you won't like it when im angry.

Hahah we'll have to wait for the Blue version. I hope JB is going to bring Blue one next week.

networkn: I don't think a new thread is required, there is still going to be plenty of people here who get phones on release day, and the delivery day delays etc is a normal part of product anticipation, it will start to wane pretty quickly and get onto a technical theme pretty quickly. Multiple threads about the same device will just cause other issues.

Maybe but this thread is already 62 pages of useless once you get your phone. Not too worried right now as I am going to wait a bit before getting one anyway.

Went to WHS Christchurch on way home and they hadn't heard anything. Got home and had call from them advising all SIIIs in Blue worldwide have been recalled for a colour defect and replacement stock is due mid june, so sounds like noone gets blue for a while.

They did at least offer me the choice of waiting, taking a white one on Thursday, or getting a full refund.

I chose none of the above.
