New update just came in OTA

EVA-L09C706B145 - 403MB. Downloading now. Doesn't look like the Nougat / EMUI 5 update, but perhaps preliminary update.

Will post after install is finished.

EDIT: Yeah, just an update to EMUI 4.1.2 with a few security patches and a Maori Language option which is pretty cool.

What carrier? I'm on Skinny no update, even after I checked. I'm on version EVA-L09C900B137, Emui 4.1.

checking usually does nothing, its not going to make your phone get it any faster

huawei usually release the update in batches based on imei, so you may have to wait a few days for it to some through.

my wife and i have the same phone and she normally gets updates about 3-4 days before i do.

does your phone run carrier branded firmware? if so then yes they do, if not then its all straight from the manufacture

Nope it looks to be unbranded. The P9 Android 7 rollout started in 2016, I wonder when it'll get to NZ.

everything ive seen says Q1 2017 for outside of china but you know how sometimes these things slip a little, wouldnt imagine it would be too far away

I wouldn't be in a rush for the 4.1.2 update.

After almost 24hrs with it, I've found it has stolen on average 300 - 500MB of RAM. I used to be able to kill all background apps and end up between 1.7 and 1.9GB of RAM available. Now I'm left with anything from 1.2 - 1.6GB of RAM. And those numbers get worse the longer the phone goes without a reboot.
