If I didn't already have two Home Hubs in the house the NL package would be tempting.

The best deal for me is direct from the Samsung NZ online store. It's the same price as everywhere else, and includes the Galaxy Buds like they all do. The other bonuses are a $150 Samsung estore voucher and a free screen replacement in the 1st year.

I'm not interested in the non-Samsung hardware offered by the other retailers. Once I'm emailed the estore voucher, it will mostly cover the $160 Samsung Ultra Fast Duo Pad charger, which I want for charging 2 phones or the phone & buds at the same time. Free shipping, of course (and no credit card fee like PB Tech has).

It's interesting that the Samsung Australia store only offers the Galaxy Buds as bonus - there's no estore voucher or screen replacement. But then we pay more here, even after applying the exchange rate.

Do you still get the $200 off for putting it on the 2 degrees interest free finance with that deal?  $200 is a fair discount.

I don't think so. I'd ruled out getting the $200 discount with 2 degrees because it requires a $40/month plan and I only spend $16/month with Skinny, which is more than enough for me. It may be enough to change plans for 3 months? but I can't be bothered changing twice and losing my rollover credits.

It's interest free finance so you go on it for a month, pay the phone off, cancel and go on whatever prepaid you want. They rely on the fact that most people are to lazy to do that but it's not exactly hard so go for it. To pay the phone off your have to ring the call center and tell them you want to. Also with the $150 estore voucher you can't use it with any other offer she Samsung normally have a $60 discount code for signing up to their mailing list. Also those dual chargers are all over trade me as they came free work the note 9.

Best value is the pb or noles bundle and sell the free stuff on trade me.

VF are not offering much discount nowadays, are they? Time was that signing up for 24 months would get you $1000 off the phone!

And that time was when there was only Vodafone and Telecom, and they charged a fortune each month for not much compared to now.

The two degrees finance is the best deal around. You and not locked into contact prison like a spark contract, can pay it all off the day after you but the phone and the interest rate is 0% so is cheaper than putting it on your credit card. They also give you $200 off the phone.

I think the offers are pretty good. Effectively, you are getting $500 ($300 buds, $200 discount) off a brand new release phone - for the S10, that's about 30% discount.

Samsung's offering is outstanding value (IMO), especially when compared against other flagship brands that offer nothing like the free accessories or discount on release we are seeing with the S10 phones.

They are good - if you need those things.

Not as good as the (from memory) $850 or so discount (as cash off the sale price) when my wife bought her iPhone. The discounts are reducing as the handset prices increase...!

I'm interested to know if my Gear S3 can be charged from the S10. It would mean not having to lug the proprietary S3 charging stand around with me when away from home.

(They demonstrated the buds and what looked like the Galaxy Watch, but would want to know it is backwards compatible as well).

The S10 phones will charge anything that uses wireless charging Qi

But the Gear S3 supposedly uses Qi but the only charger that works is the OEM one or at a pinch, a Chinese knockoff. It doesn't charge when put on a qi wireless charging pad (have tried Samsung and others).
Online research reveals that the S3 charger is 5V 0.7A and the S10 is supposed to be capable of 5W so I'm wondering if that is too much for the S3.

I guess I'll email Samsung NZ and ask them.

Or you could just check samsung's website which says the following:

  • *Wireless PowerShare is limited to Samsung or other brand smartphones with WPC Qi wireless charging, such as Galaxy S9, S9+, S8, S8+, S8 Active, S7, S7 edge, S7 Active, S6, S6 edge, S6 Active, S6 edge+, Note9, Note8, Note FE, Note5, and wearables such as Galaxy Watch Active, Gear Sport, Gear S3, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds. May not work with certain accessories, covers, or other brand devices. May affect call reception or data services, depending on your network environment.
