Pull out SIM, install VPN with US as the end point, clear all the caches, then do a update check - it should force it to think it is located in the US and thus download the latest update available.

I've got the same thing, Nokia 7 Plus from Spark and still stuck on July security patch. Tried the above, pulled SIM, connected to US VPN but still no update. Any other ideas? Shouldn't have to go to this length anyway. Who should we be contacting about this? Spark or Nokia?

I agree about that being too much hassle to go through.

Is there any equivalent to Oxygen Updater for Nokias? That worked a treat to enable me to be able to force a download of Android Pie on my OnePlus before the release officially reached NZ, and it was totally painless.

Given it's now nearly mid-October, I must say I'm disappointed that the 7 Plus is stuck on July security update - such a three month delay wasn't what I expected from an Android One device, touted for its fast updates.

Didnt work for me either. Tried a few different vpn/country combos and resetting network settings.

So I used the Nokia support app chat thing and they said the carrier determined when they were released. Used the spark online chat and they don't really know much about it.

Might give https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/development/ota-nokia-7-plus-ota-links-t3818774 a go. Sucks because I thought since this phone was an android one phone I wouldn't have to deal with this.

Telegistics is the exclusive repair agent for Spark, and Nokia is exclusively distributed by Spark, so they will be your go-to.

Thank you for that information, My 7 Plus slipped out of my pocket on the floor. Half an inch slide but matched with ceramic tiles, it was enough to put a nice crack right down the screen. Quoted $480 from local stores to get it repaired. Considering PB had the phone itself on sale for $550, I could sell the phone damaged and buy a new phone and come out better off than getting the phone repaired.

Odd, that some people are report that they are not getting regular updates on their Nokia Android One phones. I got a Nokia 6.1 Plus a week ago (parallel imported through DSE). It updated itself without an issue during setup and earlier today it got the latest security update (can't recall whether that was the September or October update). I've found the Android One update frequency and vanilla user experience exactly as promised. Using it with a 2degrees sim, not that it probably matters, as I suspect the phone would update itself over wifi anyway, whether it had a sim in it or not, just as my previous nexus phones have done once relegated to simless spares.

I went through this BS with Nokia and Vodafone. Nokia blames the carrier, Vodafone has no clue what I was trying to say and kept trying to sell me data for the update. I ended up side loading the August update as I needed a stable build for an app demonstration. I got an update soon after for maintenance so I thought it was fixed. Haven't received 9.0 yet, but it's only been a week or so.

The fact is, Nokia say's it's the carriers who are at fault, but when the August update finally rolled out to phones that couldn't get it, the vast majority of phones on all carriers in the UK and NZ (The two countries mainly affected) received the update within a day of each other. I find it hard to believe that an update held back by every carrier in two countries would suddenly decide to all push the update at roughly the same time.

It seems to be related with the devices specifically made for the UK/NZ markets. Parallel imported devices don't appear to be affected. On the plus side, you get the Android One support you should, Negative being potential network connectivity issues due to different GSM modules for different regions.

I'm afraid no "good news" update from me on the Nokia 7.1 plus Android Pie rollout for New Zealand either. It was all going pretty well since I bought my phone in May but came to a halt after the July security update. As far as I'm aware we've missed two August security patches and the September one, never mind the jump to Pie.

I've followed the Nokia forums and there's many puzzled (that's the mildest emotion) owners throughout the world, but even some Australians made it at least to the August patches. New Zealand seems to be the only ones with TA-1055 languishing at the July patch. The one common gripe is the rollout mechanism and schedule is completely opaque, with fingers pointed variously at Nokia, Google (for the Android One programme) and the telcos. I'm sure we'd all be patient if we were more reassured that it will eventually reach New Zealand, but I'm really concerned with how far behind we've been left in security patches, suggesting something is now blocked for us.

The phone works perfectly well for me as it stands, but a key feature in my purchase was Android One - just not seeing it working as expected!

I did some debugging earlier to try find out where it actually checks for updates from and although I couldn't find out where from the logs, it seems wherever it's checking doesn't even give a valid/any response and it fails to parse it:

Have been waiting for 3 months (July updates) and nothing came through to my Nokia 7 Plus. Just happened to be in Australia this weekend and used a local SIM, but no updates coming through (TA-1062, 4GB version)

Ran out of patience so did some research and has successfully updated from July update straight to Android 9 Pie (Sept Update), i.e. skipped August update.

You can follow few simple steps to sideload and update (I use the phone method, dial *#*#)

It works on TA-1046 too apparently.

I ended up installing the OTA updates manually too. If you put the zips with the names given in the XDA OTA list thread on your internal storage and then reboot you don't even have to dial any code, the system updater will prompt you to install them.

So I was looking into the issue a bit more and this reddit post caught my eye, specifically:

Carrier Association, and How it Works

When you first boot up your phone with a carrier's sim installed, that phone becomes associated to that carrier in Google's database. This is NOT a carrier lock, and it is used by Google for identification purposes. Allow me to demonstrate

Click the gear icon in the top right and select "Settings"

Under my devices, you'll see the carrier association(s) of all your Android devices that currently have your Google account linked.

In my case, I have T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T for certain phones. My Nexus Player, Nvidia Shield ATV, and LG Watch Style are listed as "No carrier."

Google maintains this list and, when they push out an update, all phones associated to a carrier that has approved the update, or a carrier that has no role in the process, receive that update. Carriers that have yet to approve the update are not pushed the update.

You can change your carrier association by swapping to a different carrier's sim and rebooting. Or, you can delete your carrier association by powering down, removing the sim (do not reinsert), powering up, and performing a full factory reset. With no sim installed, the fresh phone has no carrier association and will pull the latest available update.

However I also was able to receive the August maintenance release OTA after manually downloading and applying the first August update, which makes it seem unlikely Spark is holding up the approval of updates..

Like many others, my Nokia 7 Plus (TA-1055) has been stuck on the July update since, well, July.

Today I manually installed the first August update form the above link and it immediately downloaded the second August update but never offered me the September update. Perhaps it would have if I'd waited a bit longer.

So I manually updated to Pie and now I have my phone happily working on Android 9.0 with a security patch level of 1 September 2018.

It's disappointing that this didn't happen automatically however, as that was one of the important factors in choosing this phone.
