I have an app that turns the screen on when a text comes in (SMS Popup).

Does anyone know of a setting or an app that will do the same thing when an email comes in - rather than just the flash of the notification light? I'm using xtra/Yahoo.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

You can access setup from the app drawer.

You could try doing a reset from the bootloader. Hold down power for 10 sec, you'll see a popup saying the phone will restart in 3,2,1... As soon as the screen goes off hold Vol Down till the bootloader appears and choose factory reset from there.

I am looking for a setting or an app that will wake the screen when an email comes in, rather than just flash the notification light. I have app like this for texts - looking for an email one.

I wonder if a Tasker task could do this?

I can't check at the moment sorry, because my old smartphone has died and I waiting on my One to arrive. But it feels like the kind of thing that would possible.

Have any One owners unlocked/rooted their devices and installed a different ROM?

I picked up my HTC One from JBs in Wellington last Saturday after being told by DSE that they wouldn't have any in stock until the following Wednesday.

JB sold me the Vodafone version for the same price as DSE were offering the XT version that morning on their website, $969. This was $130 less than their advertised price of $1099. Did a quick check of the phone straight from the box and didn't find any gaps. I have since found that the top left of the screen is slightly higher than the speaker but I'm not concerned.

Loving the phone. There are a couple of things that I miss from my SGS3 but these are slowly being remedied. The widgetsoid app provides toggle buttons on the notification blind and there are a few clock apps around that provide a nice desk clock/night clock. Would still like to see HTC put this function back into the Sense clock.

I also feel that the screen real estate is not being fully realised. With Nova launcher I run a screen grid of 7 rows x 5 columns and can pack that full of stuff. I don't have the same amount of grid spaces or homepages on Sense and have to do more swiping.

Battery life is great. 14 hrs medium use and still on 65% (without Power Saver). My S3 would have been dead a few hours ago, although I blame the custom rom for that.

Received an Incipio Frequency case today and it looks great on the One. Added a bit of bulk to the phone but makes it feel a lot more secure when held. Like many others, I'd prefer not to put it in a case but I'm going with caution.

I finally picked my one up this afternoon from Noel Leeming after a wait of 1.5 months! Worth it considering I paid just $799.

Like most people here, I checked for gaps straight away at the store. Even the guy selling the phone told me that he's seen quite a few returns. So I am very lucky to have a good one!

Straight off the batt, the thing that's a stand out for me is the speaker, or speakers! I was taken aback when I watched a music video on YouTube. Wow!

The camera performs really well indoors at least. Crystal clear, and beats the 8MP cameras on the HTC One X and the Note 1.
