Dingbatt: Gee that was tough (not).
Walked into the local Noel Leemings, saw they had the XT One for $899. They also have 10% off phones this weekend so I asked if that applied to the 'One'. The girl initially said no because it was already a special, then in the next breath said if she could swing the 10% off would I take it (they only had 1). Yes, was the reply. So for $810, no fuss, no wait.

Urk, it hurts to hear that Warehouse and NL are trying to clear out their remaining stock, when I'm still waiting for My pre-order from NL and my local branch still says stock arrival status is unknown.

Glad to hear that you got an awesome deal though :) Lots of others haven't been so lucky to get the full discount so that's an excellent score!

So I went through the HTC Setup process, personalised it online, ringtones/wallpaper etc. The settings haven't been applied to my phone and I see no notification to apply them like it says on the website. I am signed in with my HTC account and then Sync Now option cannot be clicked.

I have verified my email address and still nothing?

Yes I recognise I was lucky. Checked Warehouse Stationery also. They did say they would beat any advertised price by 5% but it was moot because they had no stock.

The NL I went to (Lincoln Road, Henderson) said they only received a couple and one was on display and the other is now mine :-)

I realize this has been talked about previously, but is there any consensus on good cases for the One yet, available in NZ now?

I am thinking of either a slim case protecting the back, or a full case protecting the front and back (a leather notebook style flip case - not the wallet/book style).

URL's?

Currently have these on my short list:
NILLKIN HTC One (M7) - Frosted Shield | Trade Me
HTC One IMAK Hard Case + Screen Protector | Trade Me
HTC One M7 Leather Flip Case&SP | Trade Me

A
ny better ideas?

i have ordered these cases for my One:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BJN6WYK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C9Q1WC8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have the Rock case from ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Rock-Back-Hard-Ultra-Thin-Shell-Cover-Case-Fo-HTC-One-M7-801e-6445LVW-32GB-/121099854501?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item1c321d22a5

But i didnt like this one much... you can have it for 10 bucks if you want it? It is a hard plastic and it doesnt offer much protection if you decide to drop the phone on concrete or tiles. But does protect against scratches and stuff .

I ordered the Rock slim case for about $8 on eBay ($30+ on TradeMe) and it arrived yesterday from HK, 7 days after ordering. It's slim, looks great and actually makes the phone easier to hold. Really stands out in a bright green/yellow.

I have the Nillikin case that you have linked. I think it is great, nice fit, doesnt add too much bulk, etc. God openings for all the ports, nice lip over the front so that the glass doesnt touch a surface which you rest it on. I would recommend this case, though that IMAK case you have linked looks the business also.

I have pictures posted a few pages back, Ill see if I can dig it up and post the links.

Oh i think it is the same seller i got it from then. Ya 10.81 sounds about right. haha.

the case is good indeed, it does make it easier to hold the One. But ya, as I said, i wouldnt feel too comfortable if the phone drops on tiles or concrete with that case. But things like carpet are perfectly fine.

I think I will be pleasantly surprised with the build quality of this phone. Looks to be equal or better than the iPhone in terms of durability, and I think I am pretty qualified to speak on the qualities of iPhone build construction... Dropped it countless times with and without a case, many times from heights of over 1 metre on to the road, concrete, etc.

The thing that finally got it was when I was skating to work and hit a rock and fell on my side with it in my pocket. Smashed the screen but the phone still worked well. Then following months saw it given an absolute thrashing, weights dropped on it, thrown to the ground, kicked along the ground, really terrible things that most people would never consider doing to their device. I had a back up phone which I never had to use and have since passed my iPhone on to my girlfriend, who is getting the screen and the home button replaced.

If that is anything to go by then I cant imagine myself or anyone else having problems with the durabilty of this phone. BTW, all of the above was performed without a case or a screen protector, and aside from the cracks and the bits of glass which have fallen out, and the huge series of scratches from when I fell on it, the screen was mostly blemish free.

Got my replacement today. Opened it on the spot, it was worse then my last one. Interestingly enough, Noel Leeming still has my last phone that I returned. They said they need to try sell it themselves, cant return it to supplier.

Have ordered another one, and been told this is the last one I can have.

Interested in just going to Warehouse Stationary for price match. Does anyone know if Warehouse Stationary allows return for refund within 14 days?

If I open one and refuse to accept its defect, can I stil force them to refund it under the 14 days guarantee they have?
