Folks... Are you a skilled Freeview satellite user and pretty good with Android? Something is cooking here. Something cool and you can be involved.

I'm looking for someone who can configure their satellite receivers and is comfortable around Andoird.

Post a reply with something interesting about your setup or your experience. Who knows what can happen next?

90cm dish, DiSEqC rotor. Two non Freeview set-top units hiding in a box somewhere. Hasn't been used since we got the TiVo boxes though.

Linux box running Myth TV on one dish, and a freeview box on another dish. Multiple Android devices running custom ROMs, including one running Cheapcast and acting as a Chromecast (badly).

MythTV with DVB-T and DVB-S cards

couple of standard sat boxes for playing with

Range of android devices - tablet / phones

raspi running OpenElec




Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

This looks seriously interesting. What has piqued my curiosity isn't the android apps, it's the fact that this is the first satellite recorder that I am aware of with a DLNA server to share recorded material across a home network. I have a network in place, but only a satellite connection to one room. Given the pricing, acquiring one of these and networking it has just gone on the possible Christmas project list.
