My adsense is set to NZ currency.  I have an asb account and the account + suffix = 9 digits.  Google requires 10 digits.  I have tried an extra zero at every place I can think (trailing, leading, etc).  The test deposit continues to fail.  I phoned asb and they don't seem to consider it an issue on their end.  I am wondering if anyone might be able to supply me the 10 digit configuration they used to make this work.  Cheers!

Sorry can't help much as I use BNZ and my account ends in 100-00. AdSense only shows ****000 so I don't really know if it's using 100-00 or 100-000.

Can't your bank tell you where to add a digit if other party needs a ten digit number?

Just get them to send you a cheque. That is what I did.

They are phasing out cheques where direct deposit is available.

The bank said to place a zero first but that failed as well.

As for google sending a check, this is what used to happen but now they no longer give that option.  It looks like they are trying to move away from paper.

Yes, I think this is what I did - put a zero in front of the account number. Instead of 02 / 0536 / 1234567-89 I ended up with 02 / 0536 / 01234567-89

I'll try with suffix 00 instead of 50 (maybe it doesn't want to allow EFT into savings.  If I get anywhere will post the outcome.

That's almost certainly your problem.  Generally you can only move money in and out of transactional accounts, not savings accounts.

Great.  Well I think i tried a heap of variations but did not try the leading zero & 00 suffix.  Hopefully that does the trick.

You can transfer into a 50 suffix asb account no problems, thats what we do on trademe sales to avoid deposit fees.

Thanks for the reminder, I have decided to take withdraw my last 14 months worth of payments ($205US) out early in order to give myself a bit of extra spending money while in the USA. Guess I better complete setup and test that money will arrive in August/September

From memory I had to left pad the suffix to 3 digits, but it's been a few years. Definitely works getting Adsense paid in to ASB accounts though.

This is what I did, except it's with ANZ and I've never had any issues

ASB should have been more helpful. I find ASB online support pretty poor, infact still waiting for a reply to my bankmail 3 days later.

Why should ASB be responsible for knowing what format an overseas company expects an account number to be formatted in?

Because it is their bank account number, and they deal with foreign countries all the time, infact it is owned by an overseas company. They would be the only ones who could tell you the correct format to use for sure. It is not as though google is some tiny foreign company either, and I am sure they will have other cusomters who have google accounts, who are having the same problem. I also said they 'should have been' more helpful. Investigate for their customer as I am sure someone at the bank would know the answer. In fact it would be a worry if they didn't have anyone who didn't know the answer.
I had this same problem with ANZ, for an overseas commission account, and they did investigate it for me, and got me the correct format to use.
