I'm pretty experienced when it comes to mobile data, having been in the game a little while as some of you may know.
In December I got a couple of warnings saying my data was low, I checked my data usage app and it said I was pretty close to my 500MB limit so I spent $10 for another 500 and then thought what the heck and got another 1G for another $20.
The. I started worrying because when I checked my account, I now have a bill for $159. I have never spent more than around $50 ever. All my settings ar it'd down so it can't do any updates over cellular etc, as I said I know my stuff, I was one of the first mobile data consultants in the country.
According to my account online I used more then 1GB just on Saturday morning, yet my data usage meter says My total usage for December was 1009MB.
So I make a special trip to the 2 Degrees store who tell me they can't go by data usage apps and I could have easily used a GB using Skype for an hour. I don't Skype on my mobile. They said yet couldn't help me and said I should call the.help desk.
So I call the help desk and they say they can't help me until the bill comes out. Then I can try to dispute the account. Meantime I have stopped data usage on the mobile altogether, but also checked all the settings and there's are no automatic updates or anything else set up that could cause this.
So visiting the store and seeing someone from 2Degrees face to face doesn't work, funny how a real person sends me to a call centre. The call centre can't help till my bill comes out.
I guess the good news is that I am 4 months out of a contract, so perhaps it's time to see if another carrier wants my business and my recommendations.
