Sometimes you hear a rumour, people repeat the thing but it will not be a big hit - until a large media outfit tells the public. Then it's a crazy thing.
I've heard of the palmOne Treo based on Windows Mobile six months ago (around April/2004). Everyone (media, bloggers) were quiet about this, most talking about a "possible" Treo 650. Now this model is out, and the next rush begins. Everyone talking about the possible palmOne Treo smartphone based on Windows Mobile. Note that the research note from Needham & Co. said palmOne "tacitly admitted" it was working to make Microsoft's handheld OS available on the popular Treo line of phones. This is not the same as palmOne "admitted".
One thing I'm really trying to find out: is just me or it seems that some sites publish news after reading on other sites? I'm not talking about very well distributed press releases, because this is absolutely public. But I'm talking about those obscure findings. For example, sometime ago I found a piece of information on the web, and after a Google search and Altavista search (just in case) found no one had reported on it. The item was one month old but still current. After posted on Geekzone, I've seen this other site posting the same news in a matter of hours. It actually happened more than once. Ooops, now this post is another "rant day" post.
Anyway, got my plane tickets today for my trip to Seattle. This is really cool... All is set and ready to rock'n'roll.
