Toyota made available for free the jingle used on its new campaign. Quite cool song, catchy. It's on my PMC already.
Someone on the microsoft.public.pocketpc newsgroup asked about the Gizmondo (formerly known as Gametrac). The device was announced around 18 months ago, with the original name as Gametrac, but changed to Gizmondo half-way through the project. It's a handheld gaming device based on Windows CE .Net, with built-in GPS, GSM/GPRS and other wireless capabilities. Tiger Telematics is closing or announcing the deals for distribution in Europe. It should be available before Xmas, though their original launch date was 29 October 2004 in the UK. It shows up on their website as "Currently out of stock", so I guess it should be close. It appears it'll be available in Australia and New Zealand through Renaissance, although when I last spoke to someone there the person didn't even know about this device.
Mind you, there is an interesting read on their business model proposition. The company plans to send advertising over the air to users who accept to receive these. This will offset the cost of the device. In short if you allow them to send you ads then you pay less for the device. It seems no one is really looking at this aspect of their model. What do you think? Are you willing to receive advertising on your mobile device in exchange for a discount?
