Harrier Pocket PC Phone Edition ROM update
The ROM update for the Harrier Pocket PC Phone Edition seems to be slowly going out of the door - first some corporate clients and soon it will be available from the Telecom NZ website. I am told it may be sometime next week (31st January). The new versions are:
Bluetooth version BT-PPC/PE 1.0.0 build 3500
ROM 1.35.00 WWE
ROM date 12/10/04
Radio version HA01_141
Protocol version AA3.3.301
ExtROM version 1.35.117 WWE
It seems stable and I was told it fixes problems with Bluetooth headset performance, although This update also fixes the DUN problem reported with the first ROM released in New Zealand. DUN connections over Bluetooth are stable now.

It came in a good time, because my Harrier was going through 90% of its battery in 8 hours with radio off! After a hard reset it came back to normal, and I suspect of a program. Currently I'm testing the Harrier without this program, just to be sure.

Good on Telecom NZ for doing this release. The official list of fixes and updates is:

  • Firmware version 1.35.117
  • Upgrade radio to 1.41
  • Bluetooth stack to 1.0.0 Build 3500
  • Remove duplicated templates in camera settings
  • Swapping battery without turning off the power no longer causes loss of photos/video clips.
