Google PR Exchange Disguised As Advertising
Posted on 1-Sep-2005 09:56 by M Freitas | Tags Filed under: Blog

This is not a Geekzone type of topic, but well, this is the blog section, isn' it?

Today I received an e-mail from someone looking for information on purchashing advertise on Geekzone. I would say this company is interested in actually buying our Google PageRank goodness. This is why:

  • The email did not come through our Contact Us page, but instead it was addressed to five (!) different email aliases within this domain. Talking about unsolicited e-mail (spam)?
  • They made clear these ads have to be text links.
  • They don't have a specific location for the links: "Ad location isn't critical".

There was no site address on the email itself, but I visited the domain where this emal came from and found it is a SEO (Search Engine Optmisation) company. Bingo - that's why they don't care about location. They are not after customers - they are after the Google PageRank on this page.

Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. We value our readers better.
