55 Million SMS sent per day in UK, during August 2003

The Mobile Data Association announced that the total number of chargeable person-to-person text messages sent across the four UK GSM networks reached 55 million per day during August 2003. This compares to UK daily averages of 45 million in August 2002 and 34 million in August 2001.

Bluetooth legal in Israel now

In the past Israel reserved the ISM band for military use, outlawing the use of Bluetooth devices. Israeli retailers selling advanced handsets had to neutralise their Bluetooth capabilities before sale. Now all that will become a thing of the past.

Corsoft launched Aileron 5.0, a wireless email solution for Palm OS handheld devices. The new version of Aileron provides a more user-friendly interface, adds support for sending & receiving Adobe PDFs and various other attachments, and allows users to check multiple email accounts – both business and personal (including AOL, MSN, Hotmail and Yahoo). Aileron 5.0 also offers “push notification” to users of Handspring Treo devices, providing users with "always on" email service that notifies them when incoming email messages have been received.
