After multiple correspondence with Sony Ericsson I have worked out the following information:

1. The tentative release date in New Zealand is the 1st of April.
2. The T630 will not be customized for Vodafone Live (I assume it will still be available).
3. The T630 will be in BLACK

So 1 and 2 are good news but I have seen the T630 in Black and compared to the White version I think it looks terrible.

Heres a link for a picture of it in white:

http://www.mobilegazette.com/sony-ericsson-t630.htm

Here is a link for a picture of it in black:

http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-47293

Any thoughts as to which you prefer?

I really think they should release both colours here in New Zealand.

Peter

Also the black version doesn't match any of their accessories as this is their first black phone (recently anyway).

Try plugging a silver/white headset into a black/grey phone. Ughh...

Please all you people that have been looking at this thread (and are). Take a minute to look at the two links and post here as to which you prefer. I wan't to see if there is enough interest to nag Sony Ericsson to get there a**es into gear, and realease both versions here.

Did you know there are actually three colours for the T610, there is a red and a blue as well as the black, yet we don't even get a look at them.

Please Post...

I like the white better. I thought the black one was a limited series for T-Mobile only but it seems that it exists for Asia-Pacific (the black picture has Chinese characters in it).

Yep, well according to SE support were only getting the Black one here >:(.

Shame really if I can't get a white T630 I might not bother getting one, the Nokia 6230 looks good in black, I might get that.

1st of april thats bloody ages, I just got mine today. its the white version, in my opinion I think it looks better than the black, plus the keypad lights up, unlike the black one.
anyone know y it wont be customised for vodalive? I'm glad they wont be touching it.

anyway if anyone's thinking about getting one I highly recommend u do, its heaps improved from the t610, especially the screen, going from stn to tft. best candybar phone so far, but just wait till the t650 comes out.
I can take some pics of it if anyone's interested in seeing it in detail.

Would you guys mind nagging them to sell the white one here in NZ too? (Doesn't matter if you're not in NZ :P)

I think the nagging about the T610 is the reason it won't be customised ;)

Does the T650 really exist, I think it's just a myth :(

Can you do some pics of the sides and top and bottom, noone ever shows those on the pics. Also some pics of the screen while its being used (on). Thanks

I'm sure T650 exists, but not officially yet, it's been announced by eldar (the guy behind mobile-review) and he gets everything first, but he wont say anything more, should be officially announced by Q2. It'll be the next big se phone, for a long time.

I took some pics but where can I upload them, do I have to pay for an account or anything to upload them here?

Couple of questions related to stuff I noticed while finding this ^^ out:

1. Whats the difference between a TFT Screen (N6230) and a TFD Screen (SET630)??
2. What does the 'cc' mean when listed with a phones size, [eg: 106 x 41 x 18 mm, 76 cc]??\

Ok, so TFD is a typo >> It was just that I had seen it on more than one website, must be a copy/paste job :P

I think cc has something to do with the volume (which depends on the sizes obviously, but also the thickness of the case etc...).

Hi,

Camera phones are equipped with a color display, but these come in various forms. At the moment, the best screen technology is the TFT (Thin Film Transistor).

STN (Super Twisted Nematic) screens use LCDs slow to respond to image changes so don't display video well. Used mainly by low-end phones, they can display 256, 4,096, and 65,000 colors.

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screens use LCDs and are just like screens on notebook computers and LCD monitors. They have high power consumption but can display beautiful images in 4,096, 65,000, and 260,000 colors. They repond quickly to image changes and display videos very well.

TFD (Thin Film Diode) screens use LCDs and are equivalent to TFT LCD screens in many respects but have lower power consumption. These screens display 65,000 colors.

OELD (Organic Electro Luminescence Display) are the latest screens, and emit their own light without the use of backlight. They can display videos and have low power consumption, but current versions have a short lifespan of 10,000 hours or so and can only display 1, 4, and 256 colors.

Also I think you will find that the phone will be branded Vodafone Live if brought in New Zealand as that would be the deal with Sony and Vodafone.

This is the same as the t610 and Sony wont put stock here that is not support by Vodafone NZ.

Dual import would be the only option but you have no warranty and if you service the phone here it will get the V Live software.

There is a huge post on Geekzone about t610 unbranding and i would refer to that.

cheers.

Was his name Peter Vodafone I dont think so unless he works for Vodafone or Sony product support in NZ I would take it as hearsay.

Vodafone have a mandate that V Live supported phones are branded and if the phone was sold here in NZ I would think it would be a V Lve handset.

We will have to wait as I am not sure either as I have not yet seen this phone here.

Here is I beleive a glimps of the future - made for Vodafone and branded for Vodafone
