I've got a Nokia E71 on Vodafone, that I was quite happily receiving email on...

then one day it stopped!!

I can still use it to connect my PC to the internet, and surf, but when I try and sychronise email I get:

"System Error - Try again later!" I have been trying for 3 weeks - that is definitely later!!

Details; it's the mail for exchange application on my E71, working to MS exchange server in Auckland of my employer (I'm in the South Island).

I have tried redoing my profile, and even deleting the application (Mail for Exchange) and downloading it again. I have talked to colleagues with similar phones and services - they are all working fine with the same settings.

I don't think it is a problem with the Vodafone network as everything else works fine. Could it be an issue with my exchange mailbox?

Has anyone got any thoughts or suggestions? Getting seriously frustrated here

What access point are you using from within the MfE application? Is it valid?

I've tried "VF NZ Gateway" and "VF NZ Internet", I use "VF NZ Internet" for surfing which works fine.

Colleagues use "VF NZ Gateway"

Should be using VFNZ internet which is APN www.vodafone.net.nz

Thanks John, but even using VFNZ Internet I still have the same problem.

I've had several issues in the past with S60 devices that have developed whierd errors that have only been fixed by a factory reset. I'd be fairly certain this would fix it quickly and easily, it's just a pain however to reinstall things again.

If you do decide to do this a firmware upgrade at the same time is probably a good idea. I'm not sure what version you are running now but the new E71 releases are a lot more stable.

My E71 is currently on 110.07.127.

Where can I get hold of this version?

It gives me the message:

Sorry, there is no software currently available for that product code via the Nokia Software Update tool.

Now based in Perth WA.

Another tip is when you do the initial sync, under the MfE profile edit the Email Settings to retrieve All Messages, let it sync for half an hour then change it back to whatever you feel necessary.

I would highly recommend an update - that is one of the earliest firmware versions around.

You just need to install Nokia Software Updater which will then connect, download the firmware and install it. You will lose all data but there is a option to back this up beforehand.

It may not be. It has field test software on it so it could be a special.

If I do a factory reset, I am worried I might lose the field test application - any thoughts?
