Right got it all going now, using wget to download the file and gzip to unzip the file.

Here is a quick guide:

Create a folder in Bladerunner called wget, extract all the files of wget to there, extract gzip.exe to that folder too.

create a cmd file where you like, stick the following into it,

-----
C:
cd C:\Windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\wget\
wget "http://nice.net.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz"
gzip -d C:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\wget\listings-freeview.xml
del listing2.xml
ren listings-freeview.xml listing2.xml
copy /Y listing2.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
cd ..\
BladeRunner.exe
-----

this should do all the necessary items to get bladerunner to generate a guide file for MCE, from there its the same as you would have done with XMLTVNZ and MCE (i.e. scan for channels, assign guide info to the channel)

make sure you have downloaded my custom ChannelInfo.xml (page 1 of the thread) and pasted it into BRP\QuickGuide\ (also make sure you stop your old XMLTVNZ sched task otherwise it will overwrite this file)

Ah i'm guessing you followed a different setup originally to me,

Have a look in QuickGuide\QuickGuide.exe.config

what are 4th and 5th lines

<add key="XMLTVFile" value="GuideData\listing2.xml" />
<add key="ChannelInfo" value="QuickGuide\ChannelInfo.xml" />

those are mine (think thats all i changed in there when i first set it up)

See how that goes.

Not without typing the whole thing, when i push "Print Screen" it closes the window.

Everything works fine apart from the above error.... what were you looking for...........?

Not sure, anything that would give away some sort of a clue, or what section of BRP was looking for guide.xml

So renaming the listing2.xml to guide.xml and placing it in the GuideData Folder, then running BRP by itself not work?

I was just thinking, after reading the instructions above that you posted - how does BRP know to use the listing2.xml file?

i'm using bladerunner pro 3.5 on my xp-mce box and i couldnt get things working with the "listings-freeview.xml.gz" file.

this is my command file:
--------------
c:
cd c:\Windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\wget\
del /y listings-freeview.xml.gz
wget "http://nice.net.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz"
gzip -d c:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\wget\listings-freeview.xml
del xmltv.xml
ren listings-freeview.xml xmltv.xml
copy /Y xmltv.xml c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.xml
copy /Y xmltv.dtd c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.dtd
cd ..\
copy /Y FreeViewChannelInfo.xml c:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\Quickguide\ChannelInfo.xml
BladeRunner.exe
if not exist Logs\. md Logs
move log.txt "Logs\EPG log %date:~10%-%date:~7,2%-%date:~4,2% %time:~0,2%-%time:~3,2%.txt"
--------------

error thrown is:

WHOOPS, something went wrong, error below...
System.Xml.XmlException: '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.

after editing the "xmltv.xml" (this is the default brp pro 3.5 xml filename, not listings2.xml) and removing the doctype comment (<!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd">) bladerunner worked fine.

illicit: Doesnt BRP create channelinfo.xml with the "makechannelinfo" command in BRP Config?

Take a look at the channelinfo.xml and see if the id's are right.
