bigfut: ...The boss looked quite nice too. Its actually another good sized pda like the touch. If I sent alot of emails on the road I would have gone to the boss due to external keypad, but the Touch offered touch screen, and Remote desktop access (two things the boss doesnt have), and it was a good size slightly smaller than the Boss.

How did you find the two for weight - On paper the Boss looks pretty heavy, almost as heavy as the Treo 700w, but the Touch is lighter?

the touch is quite a bit lighter than the boss. holding them together was quite a difference. holding the touch and a treo 700 was like holding a motorola brick and a motorola razr together. (which was done of course)

Yeah would have to agree, the touch is nice and light, the boss is noticeably heavier, but not enough to deter me if I needed this type of Pda.

Hi geeks,

Telecom New Zealand to launch BlackBerry 8830 World Edition

This is really interesting:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=7552

So Telecom is preparing for moving to GSM from CDMA.  I got an mail piece last week saying Telstra was closing CDMA in Australia at the end of February next year with a free offer coming for a worldmode phone.

Palm released the 755P today which is CDMA so we won't see that here, mores the pity.

http://mytreo.net/archives/2007/12/palm-announces-verizon-treo-755p.html

Is there any word about a replacement for the Tero 700Wx.  I guess we can say it probably is the 8830.

So if I trash my 650 what will it be replaced with?

Cheers

The replacement for the Treo 700wx are the HTC Titan and Okta Touch. These are Pocket PC. Windows Mobile Smartphone include the Okta Agent, Okta Boss and the Samsung BlackJack coming sometime in Q1 2008.

The Treo 755p may or may not come to NZ - it depends if it will ever show up on Sprint. Also note that it runs Palm OS so it wouldn't be a direct replacement for the Treo 700wx which runs Windows Mobile.

Got both the Titan and Touch in our office fleet. Some users like the Titan because of the keyboard, the other the Touch because it has a cool factor(!). Though I  think the Touch is underpowered - seems to be a lag as you access the UI.  The phone I would like to see is the Touch with the slideout keypad. This gets over the lack of keyboard issue that some have with the Touch and also has a faster processor.
