Hey everyone

My new XT Nokia 6120 has been up and running since Saturday (yay!) but I can't use TWorld/the phone browser.

I can connect to Google Maps and my work Exchange Server just fine (and it's all very fast, might I add). When I click the TWorld button from the standby screen, the browser loads and displays Connecting via 'TelecomContent' for a few seconds, the screen then flicks to a blank browser page for about a second, then appears a globe icon in the top left with the word "Notes" next to it, and after another second or so "Notes" changes to "TMP8ee94.$$$". This text is different every time but always begins "TMP" and ends with ".$$$".

When I click options from here I get "Save", "Automatic find on", "Help", or "Exit". If I click "Help" I get the instructions on how to use the Notes application (found elsewhere on the phone, under Organiser). If I hit "Exit" it takes me to what appears to be a blank browser screen with a cursor. If I enter a web address the browser begins loading it before the "Notes" screen comes up again as above.

I'm not in any hurry to use the internet on my phone but just thought I'd check if anyone has any suggestions on how to get it working before I take it in to a store sometime.

Thanks in advance!

I believe most apps should connect through "TelecomData" but some might have to use "TelecomContent" (the WAP portal for example).

I have seen on my E71 that once I connect using "TelecomData", the browser won't connect to the other APN unless you terminate the current connection or you select Change Connection.

Actually just tried "TelecomData" again to see and I now get "Web: No gateway reply!"

It sounds like you are still connected to the other APN. Shutdown your phone, restart it and go directly to the browser.

Ah, some progress, I restarted the phone and went to the browser and I get the Yahoo!Xtra homepage. The TWorld button on the standby screen still results in the "Web: No gateway reply!" message though.

This means your browser is by default connecting to TelecomData, not TelecomContent. If you want TWorld to show up you have to change the browser configuration to connect through TelecomContent, restart the phone.

Best option is to set your browser to "Ask" and when yo start it then you can select which connection to use.

hey there... looks like you're not correctly provisioned... I'd geuss you were on a corporate menu at some stage??

anyway, PM your mobile number and I'll have a look...

Also, for Tworld, you must use the wap.telecom.co.nz APN with the proxy enabled 210.55.11.73:80

should be able to get it sorted pretty quick!

Thanks Felix.

I am having a couple of issues which nzbnw is currently working on for me. For the record though in case others are having similar issues, can you please clarify here . . .

What is the direct url to the TWorld portal? (I use an integrated 3G device in my laptop so the network doesn't send me the relevant config on connection). Is the best address to use in this situation http://pdaportal.telecom.co.nz? I do have a WAP browser on my PC but http://myhomepage doesn't seem to work.

I have bookmarked in IE8 in Windows 7 http://yt.telecom.co.nz/mobile which loads fine from all 3 Telecom APNs. It quite happily SMS' me my temporary PIN, and the temporary PIN quite happily logs in using any of the 3 APNs. I then get a "Your account details are currently unavailable" page under a Your Telecom heading. Do you know if this is because my connection to the internet isn't correct (APN, proxy, etc) or is it a config issue with my actual account?

In summary, my prepaid SIM is dedicated to being a data only device inside my laptop. What is the best way for me to check my balance?

Cheers

Felix

Hi Scott,

The URL for Tworld is http://myhomepage

For this to work the following must be true

1) You must use wap.telecom.co.nz with proxy 210.55.11.73:80
2) You must be provisioned in the Mobile Access Gateway (most customers will be, I have only come accross 1 or 2 that haven't been)
3) You must have credit, be in coverage etc

The http://pdaportal.telecom.co.nz URL is for devices that do not strictly conform to Xhtml (such as Win Mobile devices... once upon a time it was easy to catagorise what was a PDA and what was not... but as you probably know the line is now very blurred).

The reason (I imagine) you are not able to access yt.telecom.co.nz using a data card is indeed to do with the APN + Proxy.

The fastest way to check you balance is to send a text from the SMS application you are using to

333

with the message body reading

Bal

Hope this helps!

Felix

Thanks Felix, much appreciated.

The TXT to 333 is exactly what I wanted, maybe I'm blind but I haven't seen reference to that service anywhere?

Any chance of having the data bundle added to it also? Or some other way to check data bundle usage?

Cheers

@Scottpalmer... quick update... the best way for you to get balance info *should* be

using internet.telecom.co.nz (no proxy)

go to http://pdaportal.telecom.co.nz

Select My Telecom

As I say, this *should* work. Let me know how you go.

YAY! With a huge thanks to nzbnw and felix I am back in business.

Using the direct APN (which is now and will continue to be my default APN), obviously with no proxy etc just the bare APN of direct.telecom.co.nz - bookmarked http://yt.telecom.co.nz which now logs in fine (a magic fairy must have fixed it) to show:

Again thanks nzbnw and felix. I hope this helps someone else to save you guys the hassle.
