Hi

Today we had plannned to finalised the last of the visible improvements from the Core TV Headend upgrade.

Unfortunately a second supplier has failed to deliver a piece of equipment and we must delay the picture quality upgrade to Free to Air, Sport and Movie channels.

I will keep you informed on this site as I get more information on the exact date.

Regards

Does that mean some upgrade has taken place? If that is the case then I am disappointed since PQ across my channels really hasn't improved at all.  For example Living, Food, Sky1 are pretty terrible (as are all World TV channels but that could be a source issue)

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

It's been said in previous posts (not that I can find the one I am looking for now) but from my understanding the following has already been upgraded:

New Sky Channels - Vibe, C&I, Fox News
New TCL Channels not sourced from Sky: Bloomberg, DT&L, Parliment TV
Old Sky Channels: Sky Movies (not that I am a subscriber, but I have been told) plus TV3, not TV1 or 2

All the others are still running through the old composite system...  So it seems like a wait and see...

Thanks Jeff for posting the update.

I would love Nasa TV as well... that would put in 2-3 votes for that if we could choose any extra TV channels to re-transmit... I think it would be a good puller for people as I know a number of people miss Nasa TV since it was removed when B1 was decommissioned.

The Microsoft Mediaroom platform looks very interesting. Coincidentally, it increases the range [and quality] of STBs that we could use.

Looks like TV1 and TV2 have been upgraded as it's showing 720x576.

EDIT RC: please link to an image hosted on the internet.

Yeah I just got home from AKL today and noticed that as well the old 704x576 -> 720 x 576 is the indicator!... improvement in PQ as well.

I might try and to a Freeview off the Sat vs TCL Cable screenshot compare, should be the same now.

Now to scan through the other Sky channels to see if any of them were upgraded as well.

Can't be an upgrade all over since watching the 7's tonight on TCL versus Freeview, the quality difference was blatantly obvious. It's hard to watch TV1 and TV2 on TCL these days (not to mention the other channels!)

Hi

Alt TV has been delayed with the most recent post above.  See this page http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/inhome/digital-tv/whats-new.cfm

My most recent advice from our engineers indicates we will deliver all the channels except for City TV (delayed by City TV themselves till April) ahead of the end February date mentioned on this page, however I am not prepared to give a confirmed date until some key testing and backup equipment is installed.

TV 1 and TV 2 have recently had a change of source after agreement with TVNZ, thus the improvements you have seen.  Testing and live feed outages (Wellington Sevens) has impacted the feed over the weekend.  The core headend upgrade project has not yet impacted TV1 and TV2 picture quality.
