Hi All

I have tried to see if this Thread has been started but unable to find any reference... so I thought I would like to see what everyone is using on their Pocket PC, what I would like to know is:

I have a few Pocket PCs around, mainly for testing, but also for my data needs. Currently:

- i-mate Pocket PC Phone Edition (GPRS, testing)
- iPaq h3970 Pocket PC (only for Navman)
- i-mate Jasjar Pocket PC Phone (UMTS, my main voice device and e-mail)
- TNZ Apache Pocket PC Phone (CDMA EVDO, main data device due to speed)
- an unnamed device to be released 1st November 2006

As for what programs:

- SPB Pocket Plus
- SPB Diary
- Ilium eWallet
- MagicButton

There are some other software but these are the ones I install straight after a reset.

All those are available in our Geekzone Software Store (powered by Handango).

Mauricio: Is there any point having Magic Button since Pocket Plus does a very good job of that already?

No, but I only have SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Diary on my day-to-day Pocket PC. On my test ones I don't have that because I don't use them for PIM, but mainly for testing and GPS navigation. In this case there's no way to beat the minimalistic 30 Kbytes install size of MagicButton.

Ah yes i see. Pocket Plus does tend to be a big of a memory hog and along with all those WM5 memory leaks....

Pocket IRC is good. But a pain not be able to use the IRC commands in the normal manner.

However I'm yet to see a better one

yup. intend to... it funny how there's several progams that do similar thing like SPB Pocket Plus, SBHB PocketBreeze and some free plugins too... and they all look fairly similar too.

I will go for SPB Pocket Plus as it looks like everyone here has it.

Finally there is a Air New Zealand electronic timetable.

This can be found at http://www.oagtimetables.com/anz.htm
There are PC, PDF, Palm, & Pocket PC versions available.

For the Pocket PC you will also need eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime.

Umm sorry...it's actually just a PDA in my pocket.

Dell Axim X3i:
My very first PDA EVER and I'm hooked already. I always run it at 200mhz except for big games. I have alot of software so here comes the bullets!

Software on RAM:

vBar - a tiny wee app which makes your OK button a minimise button as normal, but if you hold or right-click it closes. Wee arror next to it is a pull-down bar and shows your running apps.
ShShutXP - Puts a tiny icon in the bottom-right of the today screen which provides a 'Light off, Reboot, Turn off' menu.
FileDialogueChanger - It hooks in and replaces the system's save dialogue box so you can save in any folder & have some basic functions like new-folder.
PocketRAR - Archiver that is surprisingly awesome.
pocket RSS Reader - an RSS reader. Comes with a fancy-pants today plugin.
Total Commander - A file manager with transparent FTP client and registry editor. 10/10. If youve got this app then you'll understand why I rave about it.
Webby - Web browser that im toying with. Not as fast as PIE but excellent features which rival even my desktop browser.
Something called 'Windows Media player'. Never heard of it. Don't plan on clicking on it any time soon.
Skype. Runs slow. Need it on RAM. Kinda a waste since I have nobody to call on it.

Software on SD card:

Airscanner Sniffer - Packet sniffer for WIFI. Only used for legitimate purposes. I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
vxSniffer - A handy dandy packet sniffer.

PocketDHCP - DHCP info
PocketLAN - DHCP, IP scanner, Ping, Advanced network information, Windows shares, etc
Pocket PuTTY

BadSchwii myExensions - a little app which is meant to adjust file .extensions and binding with applications. So far it's buggered my TXT file support.
SwiftTalker - commercial text-to-speech application.
TextToSpeechPro - commercial text-to-speech application
PQView - a picture viewer with basic editing functions. Kinda like IrfanView on PC.
PDAwin TV Remote Controller - A multifunction, customizable learning universal TV remote. Uses infrared port. Naturally. Yes it works.
SmartRead - commercial text-to-speech application.
ClearTemp - tiny app to clear the cache, unused shortcuts, registry entries etc. I use this more often than I brush my teeth. So that's not often.
Total Input. Lets me control my PDA and see its screen with my desktop computer.

Games (ARM executables - on SD Card):

Fade - an adventure game. Click on pictures. Inventory. Combine items, etc. With 10-20 hours play time. Not that I would know, since I have the demo and Im stuck. But worth buying. I think.
Dames are Trouble: Freeware adventure game. Short. Like Fade.
Elite - PocketPC version of an old-school adventure & space bartering game. 3D graphics & space shooter bits. Absolutely brilliant game.
Case - lame driving game.
DeathDrive - freeware racing game where you have rocket launchers & machine guns and stuff. 3D graphics with sprite cars. Like 'Death Track' for MSDOS.
DOOM for Windows CE - A DOOM port.
FreeSCI - plays old adventure games.
GFDOOM - Doom port for Pocket PC
GikaDiver - plane shootem up. Like the ones ya see in the fish & chip shop.
Isitar - Lemmings clone.
Space Trader - by the same dudes as Elite but not as sophisticated. Almost no graphics but addictive and well-designed.
OpenJazz - Jazz Jackrabbit for Pocket PC.
SimCity 2000 - port to the Pocket PC.
Wolfenstein 3D for Pocket PC - excellent interface.
Pocket Quake

Games - (MSDOS executibles on SD Card):

Star Trek 25th Anaversary - MSDOS
Commander Keen 1 and 4. MSDOS versions.
Castle Wolfenstein - the inspiration for Wolfenstein 3D. MSDOS version.

Emulators (On SD Card):

PocketDOS
PocketDOSBOX
PocketVCS - Atari 2600 emulator. Top-notch.
Yame - MAME and NES, SNES and Gameboy & something else.

And before you send the dept of internal affairs around to my place to beat me up - its all legal software. Either paid for or demos.

Will add all software as above except all Phone software once it arrives, will then go through and delete some software off the Apache as I just want it for txts and phone (use BT headset) and back up diary.

That looks like a really awesome device. How much did you fork out for your Axim there? Because having VGA output and bluetooth keyboard would basically let you use it as a desktop if you wanted. I have an X3i and it's brilliant for $200 but I'm stuck with stylus and no bluetooth. Wifi tho :)
