I tested my 4150 with two other v600's today. On one of them once i paired the devices I had
an address of all FF's. The other one had an address that looked correct, not all FF's. I would not connect to the internet on any device that was showing all FF's as the address.

I have ordered a new v600 and will test it tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I too have all F's as an address and mine doesn't work. I do have the software to reflash the phone. Does anyone know if this actually works or does it have to go back to Motorola?

Hello to All, i too am having the same problem. Although not with the device # as all Fs. But even with the username and password David provided i am unable to connect. I too have cingular wireless and a motorola v600. I went to my cingular dealer and they tried 3 different v600s, none worked. I spoke to tech support and they provided these options, they did not help me, but perhaps they may help someone here.

Baud: 115200 - 8, N, 1
Init Str: &f+cgdcont=1,"IP","isp.cingular"
Dial Str: *99***1#
User: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Pass: CINGULAR1

If anyone comes up with any other options please post them here.

thanks,

juan

I noticed that the number you are dialing is different than mine. I'm dialing, in the iPAQ, +1 (704) *99***3# My local area code is 704, insert yours, and I'm not dialing the 1 but 3. Maybe this will help you.

Good Luck,

Kevin

Kevin,

Can you tell me what your setting are for your connection? this is under connections/advanced. I have an option for "wait for dialtone", "cancel if not connect", etc.
I know im reaching but i have tried everything else i (or cingular for that matter) can think of.

Also, I wanted to make sure that when creating the connection you are choosing 'bluetooth dialup modem' i have another option that says 'cingular wireless phone' , just wanted to make sure we have identical settings.

thanks

juan

Has anyone in this forum been successful in setting up connection to internet thru V600 (Motorola) and a pocket pc? I see people have tried all kinds of things - some with success/some not. If anyone who has had something work - can you kindly get with me? I'm looking to connect Motorola V600/iPaq h1945 pocket pc (via Cingular service). Stymied entirely so far no matter what I've done - and Cingular seems incapable (their techs) of providing correct info. for configuration (I have MediaWorks - their data service GPRS package). Thanks, in advance, for your time/replies! :)

I am having the *exact* same problem. kevsahl, can I contact you to go over your phone and iPAQ settings? I have a feeling your V600 might be configured slightly differently than the rest of ours. (Specifically the "WebAccess" -> "Web Sessions" settings) Can you provide the contact info for the cingular rep who helped you?

I got it to work... on Cingular Moto V600 + iPAQ 2215.

Here is what I did.
1. Make sure WAP web-browsing is working on the phone's builtin browser.
2. Pair-up the phone and the PDA.
3. Configure the PocketPC connection using the following:

*99***1#
User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

No init string was required.

I believe kevsahl has a '3' in place of the '1' in his dial-in string because his phone has 3 entries in his "WebAccess" -> "Web Sessions" settings. I only have 2 entries in my "Web Sessions" settings -- "Cingular" and "MMS". I'm thinking he has a 3rd (since he is using the number 3 in the dial-in number).

kevsahl, if you can check if you do have 3 entries and if so post the settings for the third entry that would be useful. I'd like to see if I can get things working with your settings to see if that improves speed. I also occasionally get some errors on some pages when browsing on the iPAQ but other than that everything seems good.

I hope this info helps someone else get up and running.

Hello,
I have a Ipaq 4150 and I would like to buy a Motorola v600, than I ask you if it is also possible to sync SMS and phonebook and to make call in dial-up via bluetooth with h4150.
If the answer is yes what is the best software for that (mphone, pocket phonetools, easySMS, connect2phone, RVGSM, ...?).
Thank you very much for your help :-)

Hello,

I have Cingular in Chicago and am trying top get this v600 to dial out with a hp 4155. I have tried 5 different V600's and none work. They all get the same message.

Cannot connect

Dialed *99***1#

The ansering modem has disconnected. To chek your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.

The settings i used are

username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
dial number: *99***1#

The thing is that when is use any other bluetooth phone (t616, s56, 3600) from Cingular they all work fine with those settings. I dont think i have the Mac address problem (i do not have all F's). Can anyone shed some light here.

Thanks in advance.

I have been successful in attempts with V600 with CINGULAR service this weekend. I did get it setup ok - but I think the network might have been offline (their GPRS - data services). I could not connect with the phone, my phone and pocket pc, or my phone and notebook this weekend. If you have Cingular - (or any other service for that matter) my advice is to make sure your data services are working correctly first (on phone). Keep trying - that failing - get with their techs. I recommend calling tomorrow to see if they are "back up". If anyone (this is Memorial Day) knows whether or not for sure GPRS has been "down" with Cingular. . . please let me know. I haven't been able to get on (as I've said) all weekend.

I got mine to work finally. My original phone had all F's then I got a new one and all is well.

I got it to work... on Cingular Moto V600 + iPAQ 5555 in Houston.

Here is what I did.
1. Make sure WAP web-browsing is working on the phone's builtin browser.
2. Pair-up the phone and the PDA.
3. Configure the PocketPC connection using the following:

*99***1#
APN: WAP.CINGULAR.COM
User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

No init string was required.

I too have a h2215 (fyi - os: wm2003) and a Motorola V600 with Cingular Service and I have been struggling with some of the same problems previously stated.

Under "Enter a name for the connection:"
I used the APN: WAP.CINGULAR.COM as stated in the above post.. I am thinking APN is "Access Point Name", didnt that mattered but I gave it a try.
Additionally I also use the below information:
Number to dial: *99***1#
User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

Both my h2215 & V600 have the Bluetooth powered up and I verified that the WAP web-browsing is working on the phone's built in browser.

I get the same message:
"The answering modem has disconnected. To chexk your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings."

Ideas??
Thanks,
Todd

Finally, after googling for hours, spending hours on hold with cingular tech support i finally got the correct settings for my h2215 ipaq with the V600.

After Entering a name for the connection (anything really)
I used the *99***1# code for the "Enter the number exactly as it should be dialed. et.c" part. The user name is WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM and the password I used is ZXY203DC9K0402 with the domain blank. Additionally under the Advanced button I added the Extra dial-string modem command +CGDCONT=1,"IP","isp.cingular"
I also believe you may need to open a free account at www.mywirelesswindow.com in order to make this happpen. I have no data plan persay and do the pay-as-you-go type thing for 1 cent a kB (since i dont use it that much)

I have seen a lot of other settings, many of which more normal to me but this is only one i got to work - good luck.

Hello Todd. As you may or may not realize at this point - I had sent you an email earlier this evening promising you some help tomorrow evening on this. Those are exactly right (what you posted here in the forum). I'm glad that YOU were able to get the info. from Cingular (shouldn't be hard, should it)!? Cuz I had a monster of a time - and never did get the right info.! (If it had not been for the help of someone in the forum - I would NEVER have gotten it configured). Glad you got yours done! (and glad I saw your post before I wrote out the detailed step by step)!
