Locking the thread definitely makes you look like an Xnet cheerleader, but that aside if people are spamming threads sure ban them/delete their posts I agree, but why lock the entire thread - there seemed to be some good discussion going on, and you'll just get another thread popping up like this one!

There is no need to make personal attacks here. If we are called cheerleaders because we lock threads, then we are all cheerleaders to all companies. Which is definetely not the case!

There is no need to discuss why threads are locked or banned.
It obviously needed to be locked as it will just invite other people to complain/moan/troll whatever.

There is a place for complaining, and you can do it here! BUT as freitasm said multiple people all signed up together and posted from the same IP address. Is it the same person trying to prove a point? Or multiple people all with the same problem?

If you have something to add to the other thread, that is fine, but do not use this to try to avoid the fact that it was banned as it was going nowhere!

The moderators here have been accused of being xnet cheerleaders, in the Vodafone payroll, on Telecom account and so on - depending on whose opinion you differ too.

I locked the thread because it was originally posted by one the banned people.

If people start posting from the same IP address using different user names in a matter of minutes (and it is not from within a company) then it is spam and it will be locked/deleted/banned - whatever it takes.

The message is clear: one person complaining is fine. Many people complaining is fine. But having many posts coming from a single IP address with different user names is just spamming and is not acceptable under any circunstamces.

I agree, my quarrel isn't with your decision to moderate it's how it was executed. You say people have a right to complain (as they should if there's a genuine problem with service) and that it's fine to do it on these forums, in the previous post I saw several genuine complaints yet you locked the entire thread instead of just removing the spam.. which prompts another identical thread to arise.

Hi - this is MadmikeX (just back to clear this up - then I will be gone again!)

Firstly, yes the cheerleader image was a waste of a post. It was meant to be a "sorry for calling you a cheerleader" but obviously didn't sit right. I had sent a personal apology to Mauricio but he must not have gotten it.

Secondly, we are all very differant people, working at a company.

You assumed that we were not. You can read the posts, check the dates of account creation, etc. We are differant people, And with XNETS very good (perhaps too good) recruitment benefits there are quite a few customers in the same building.

Apart from my apology post - one post - all others were perfectly legitimate and did not require a ban. How can you say any of the other posts were not serious or to the point?

Again, if it was the picture I posted that caused the ban you can block it. You don't need to ban Nigel/John for my attempt at humour.

That was a bad attempt of humour. But that wasn't the cause of the ban. Having three people, including two different names posting from the same IP address in a matter of seconds is really bad.

If you are serious about making a difference then start by being serious about your stuff. Being "spammy" is not funny and just makes your voice less likely to be heard.

Do you think WorldxChange is going to take that seriously? If anything happens it will be they start ignoring the trolls and idiots.

7 posts in one thread with not one related to the topic/subject - I think we need to lock this one (not being sarcastic). So let me make it number 8: I had the concern that it might have been different people at the same (small?) company appearing to be a single consumer IP. The problem is that all of them talked about it and then at the same time decided to post the same thing which is considered spamming even though it is not the same person. I agree with the thread getting locked.

Neil, we are a company with 900 staff, I am the infrastructure Manager, I run multiple million dollar projects. Don't think this is a small company and I feel I know what I am taking about.

I started the post last night because I got feed up. When I talked to Nigel today it just happen that his voice stopped working last night and he was on hold for an hour (xnet can prove this with help desk tickets and they did fix it today).

Dan is another working in our business with Xnet and he has found that his speed is slow.

DON'T ASSUME THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW. Up to now I have not posted any bad responces even from the other thread and even when my account was locked, take the hint you post didn't go down well.

I think that this is quite an important lesson on what happens when employees post offensive remarks on the forums from their workplace connection.

As I previously said, it is a pity if we impact users, but usually we are unable to identify what is a proxy and what isn't. Also employees of a company should exercise some self-control before posting offensive troll bait material.

Remember, the bans were generated because of the abusive content plus multiple users signing up within a short period of time. We have no way to identify what is a proxy and what isn't. And even if we were able to, failing to block the IP opens us up to more potential abuse.

Perhaps in future, it would be better to ask that employee to cease such activities rather than blaming the forum administration.

Prank calls or abusive calls from the companies landlines or mobiles wouldn't be tolerated - why is posting abusive content on forums?

It would appear that instead of saying "yes, i understand how our collective involvement may be misconstrued, lets move on with the issues at hand" you continue to take the offensive.

It also appears that the moderators are continually re-explaining their actions, which may or may not be just feeding the fire...

All points have been made, be it "antagonist" or "cheerleader"... does this really need to continue? i browse these forums for helpful objective information, which untill recently was void of schoolyard one-ups-man-ship.

As I see it this has ceased going anywhere. If you post in this forum then you agree to be moderated... a valuable tool to maintain subject content and etiquette: and at the same time the moderators are not infallable and have been caught having made an error in judgement regarding voices wanting to be heard. Both parties know these points. Could we please get back to the issues and facts, and let the politics be played out elsewhere?

i'm no cheerleader, nor antagonist: moderators have their place as much as joe-bloggs opinion holders... but i'd sure appreciate the end of this "competition" and have a healthy discussion continued for the benefit at all.

All should take a deep breath and count to 10 before posting... actually i suppose i could take that advice too in light of this rampage

We judge others by their actions, but we judge ourselves by our intentions forgetting that others judge us by our actions. We need to keep this in mind before getting upset about someone's actions and try and look at their intentions (a lot easier if you know the person). I apologize if any of my actions appeared to be negative, it was not my intention. I choose not to drag on and explain my actions/intentions, let's rather move forward and help each other where we can which is the intention of this forum.

Just switched to xnet from orcon, knowing that there' was a chance I too would experience the slow international speeds which now holds true. I don't mind though (mainly because it fixed the problem I had with orcon, but I won't go into that) as long as there's a fix in progress, whether it be shaping/buying more bandwidth/etc, as long as it's coming im happy (from my experience, xnet has a much better support team compared to orcon, though I didn't switch for that ;)).

The reason we only contribute activly and officially to these forums is due to this exact reason, unlike the a lot of others where it is exactly that (schoolboy oneup man ship).

We try to assist and enlighten people to the technolgy especailly on the VOIP side as it is so new for people and feel this was the only place where it could be done fairly these forums are about learning, and for the last 18 months or so we have done exactly that and feel it has probably been of great beneift to every one. Can I ask how many of your companies expose themsleves to this type of openess and co-operation with a online community ?

We have told people our policies and that we will not continually react to every single thing , otherwise we would be here for ever in exactly this (schoolyard one-ups-man-ship), not helpful to anyone. We have posted a couple of times on how we look at the speed issues and won't keep repeating ourselves, no amount of demanding is going to get us to do this guys and girls pure and simple.

I actually now have a lot of sympathy for the moderators here who try to do a good job by given a fair hearing to all, but honestly now judging by some of the reactions (and I have to say it does appear to be by newer users on the forums), we have to wonder if it's worth continuing as this Forum was for the benefits of "geeks" to learn and ask qusetions and we could assist by adding some industry expertise but by us having an official presence here now this now seems to be detracting from what this place Geekzone should be, people do seem to think that just because we do officailly support here that we are going to tell everyone exactly what we are doing and our whole business models etc, sorry but this won't happen.
