Can I use Linksys AG310 with VFX. I want to use a GSM gateway on the FXO port?

Yes you will be able to use the AG310, they are due to come online shortly from one provider, as they have a confusing issue with the MAC address info, the ones being supplied will be reworked and will be from PB Tech, may I ask where you got yours from ?

I have purchased a AG310 this week. I got mine from a firm down Wellington way. At first we had a bit of a job getting the VFX side to work but in saying that it wasnt from the wrong MAC address as with one of the Xnet technical staff got me to go into the settings click on voice and in the list of various settings there is a MAC address which happened to match the one on the case. Anyway I ended up doing a factory reset and put all the modem settings back in to connect back up to Xnet. I received the unit on Wednesday and at lunchtime today (2 days later) we managed to get the phone side working. So would like to say a big thanks to Andre, Justin and the man I spoke to today at technical support for helping get it up and running. I was just about to send it back as being faulty. First impressions with everything working is that it is a good device.

We've now setup a few of the AG310's on the network, one thing interesting to note is we've had trouble getting them to grab their configs.

We've found an option in the provisioning tab - 'resync on reset'

If this option is off your device will not go grab its config when power cycled like all the other linksys devices do.  Tick/turn this option on and your device will merrily pick up the config and register.

Thats exactly what happened to me Cameron. My one wasnt grabbing its configs. I am finding it works very well but cant get over how cheap one of them is to buy $112 considering the WAG54GP2v2 is up around the $185 to over $200 mark The only difference with that one is that it has wireless on it.

kfella2000: The only difference with that one is that it has wireless on it.

And the AG310 has only 1 voice port plus POTS crossover, where as the WAG/WRTP has 2 voice ports and no POTS crossover.

I'm planning on getting an AG310 tomorrow. So is the consensus that it is a good product? Can WxC state if it is technically better or the same as the older models? How good is the ADSL performance compared to other brand modems?

A little to early to give the product any solid backing from us.   It seems to be ok though, no major issues seen just a hick up here and there (my post above).

Sorry I can't help with the Tech/Internal spec & ADSL performance, can only state we haven't seen any major DSL problems with it - once again still very early days.

Found this in AU:
Date: 23-Oct-2007
Rating: Outstanding. Overall rating: 9.00
Strengths: Good looks, endless number of variables to fill in, reliable, has not been rebooted for a couple of months.
Weaknesses: Not very user friendly in the menu department, if you have some basic IT knowledge it is OK, if not you will be calling support.
Comments: No Comments
So looks good.  Also that in the US it is price around UA$112, so being NZ$112 here is great.  I see PB Tech states on the product page that it is a special price.
