Not sure if this may have being asked before, but I was wondering, when chorus build a cabinet near to my house, will I be able to be connected through the cabinet and still be with orcon, or will I have to change ISP ?

I suspected as much. Look like when the day comes I'd end up choosing between orcon going through the exchange at 4mb sync or 10mb+ sync with telecom on the closer cabinet, intresting.

NzKaizer: Who knows maybe orcon will do a deal in the future that allows their + network through the cabinet's. I'm not worried, I wont be cabitnized for years because apprently dead end towns right at the bottem of the country get
NzKaizer: Still end up with the same outcome then. I'd be pretty stupid to stay on the orcon sitting at 7.6mb sync, when i could change isp and get more.

thanks for the info.
NzKaizer: Well, because I will be moved onto a cabinet, my connection will go through telecom wholesale. As scottjpalmer pionted out will force me to be moved onto Orcon's normal network, not the orcon+ network. This means irrelevant to what I really sync at, I affeticely will be restricted to ADSL1 speeds if I stick with Orcon.
duncanblair: I remember posting about this before, but it is a good question.
Currently we can keep you on the Orcon+ network, however you are likely to have your sync speed impacted when the Telecom cabinet is fired up.
We are currently doing a lot of work in the background on alternatives, in particular the sub loop extension service (SLES), and sub loop unbundling (where we put our own gear in the roadside cabinets), which will likely mean that in future we can continue to provide the same great broadband and phone service that you currently get.
Will likely have more information about these things early in the new year.
