Hi all, since the other video card thread was such a useful resource for those of us setting up HTPC boxes for NZ Freeview, I thought I'd kick one off for those of us who have been playing with Windows 7 as I understand that some of the (older?) cards with working H264 acceleration in Vista don't work in W7.

My experience - Palitt Nvidia 9400GT w/passive cooling works like a charm.

Can others post here with what they have working in W7?

Not a video card - but my Hauppagge HVR-900H USB DVB-T is working well with Windows 7 and Media Center.

ASUS 9400GT -- seems to be working fantastically, although haven't checked CPU cycles

Hauppauge 2200 -- happily scanned both tuners on digital AND analogue
Pixelview PlayTV Pro 2 -- UPDATE is recognised, provides picture for analogue, currently no sound. Would be good to have running, as it could be dedicated to Prime.

That for DVB-T or S (Satellite or Terrestrial)? I'm guessing no H264 acceleration on the 7600GS?

DVB-T cant test satelitte as I dont have one and plus why would you want satelite when its not HD? Umm H264, wouldnt know how you can tell because I mean the HD works perfectly with no lag so?

What sort of processor does your machine have? Also can you check the processor usage while watching a channel - particularly TV3?

XFX 9500GT and HVR-1700 working with hardware acceleration.

Getting major pixelation on channel changes and for a few seconds after. Although I think I prefer this to the clean but slower changes in Media Portal.

I kind of assumed it was deliberate, and kind of 'cool'. It's more like the channels morph into each other, terminator-styles. The channel change is lightening quick compared to anything I've seen on Vista.

Think I would remove the 7600GS. Might be working but does not have full hardware accel..

I know what you mean, it does make a cool transition effect. On my system it often outstays it's welcome though. Frequently the picture will clear up for 3-4 secs then a little more pixelation before everything comes right.

Tried out my onboard ATI HD 3200 (780G chipset) and it's a fail. Green blocky mess for the SD channels and even the HD channels sometimes lock up after a channel change. The scene just continually jumps back and forward a couple of frames. Driver update didn't fix anything,

Pinnacle Systems PC-TV 73e nanostick works fine out of the box, works in media centre without having to install anything. (DVB-T / Analog).

Most media center info is in my sig, but here is the short list of working items
