I am having strange problem with the decoder..... when i keep on changing the channels, the decoder keeps on restarting.... can anyone give me the reason for this problem and the solution to it !!!!

Does it do it when you use the push-buttons on the front of the unit? Maybe some crud or liquid has got into your remote and is somehow activating the power button when you go to change channel?

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Yeah I had that issue once and this fixed it.

Also the unit was really hot, so I moved stuff around to make sure the unit was well ventilated. Not happened since.

Yep, they do generate a bit of heat. Do not suffocate them. When I had mine in a cabinet, I put those rubber stick on feet things between it the component on top of it and it sorted the airflow issues.

Sky advise against that now (for HDi), you should use the red reset button in the flap where the smart card goes. (think hold it in for 5 secnds or so)

I think it kills any disk writing and 'gracefully' reboots (and it's probably easier to get to than your sky power cord)

Fair enough....except of course for those times where the box has well and truly hung and even the red reset button is ignored.
I must add that these occasions are few and far between though, overall the MySky HDi is pretty damn stable.

well respect all those ideas about the issue. However, the decoder is neither hot nor there is any hint of crude or liquid into the remote... and the same remote is working fine in other decoders.... so i think the problem might be different......

is there any linkage of the remote with respect to the decoder (especially the channel buttons??)

Did you try the reset or power cycle?

if you press buttons on remote too much (on myskyhdi) it overloads decoder & it will reset..
Make sure you press buttons slowly

I'm pretty sure this is not correct.

I scan through the channels as fast as the remote allows me to on both the harmony & mysky remotes and have never seen the sky box reset.

I think I have reset the mysky about 3 times in 2 years.
