So her in doors currently uses MS Money 2002 (I know!) for tracking all of our finances and I'm wanting to move to something a bit more modern.

Requirements/wish list:

Ease of use
Integration with ANZ for balances
Reporting
Budgeting
Cloud would be nice
Cross platform (OSX or Windows)
Mobile app (iOS)

So any thoughts?

We use Xero at home for this

It has integration to the bank feeds (we pull all our Westpac accounts + Kiwibank Credit card) - assume ANZ is supported. I use the Web interface as I have a Windows Phone so I cannot use an app, but there's an app for iOS & Android.

I use YNAB (You Need A Budget) which has a different approach than traditional Spend Tracking software but it fits our needs.

While it deosn't directly integrate with ANZ, I can import files exported from ANZ's website for all transactions and coding is made easier because the app starts remembering things based on Payee, etc..

I use their desktop app and they have an Android app that shares data with the Desktop app via Dropbox integration.

More recently, they have released a Saas, web based version of the app which unfortunately currently lacks the file import functionality as it is meant to be talking directly to the banks but so far, it looks like it is mostly banks in the US.

I used to use MS Money, now use PocketSmith.com

A NZ company, new features being release all the time. No iOS app yet, but it’s meant to be coming soon.

Another vote for YNAB. Its only major weakness the lack of any real forecasting capability.

As mentioned above the new web based version lacks the ability to import bank files but this is going to be resolved soon.

Another vote for pocket smith. I used to be an MS Money and Quicken fan but have been using Pocket Smith for the last couple of years. Its very good and becoming better. Love the NZ support as well. Integrates nicely with all major banks.

Credit Cards yes.

Home loans accounts, I don't think so. Home loan payments from accounts yes.

There's a free trial period, give it a go.

This has got me interested.

The new ynab appears to support transaction importing now too, other than it being a local product is there anything putting pocketsmith over nynab (not ynab 4)? Unless the dollar bottoms out nynab sub is currently cheaper than pocketsmith

Another vote for YNAB, the method completely changed how we think about money in a good way. I don't use the import functionality because it means you get in a better habit of knowing how much is left in each category.

The mobile apps get to know where you are when entering transactions which makes it pretty easy.

Another one for YNAB. Wife and I both use it and it syncs via dropbox across multiple devices and pc's. We try and put anything we spend in as soon as we spend it and then import stuff from the bank to reconcile it all up. Has helped me catch a few automatic payments to insurance companies etc that were wrong and would previously have gone unspotted. Reporting function is good too although somewhat depressing to see how much $$$ was spent on fast food last year

Anyway, I paid a sub just so I can try the live feed. When I search it defaults to US banks claiming it's my default country. But I can't see anywhere to change it to NZ...

Importing from my bank now.
