I've noticed that as of a couple of days ago I can't access gmail in my web browser ( https://mail.google.com/ ) or using the Gmail app on my Android phone, but I can access it using BlueMail on my Android phone. Same behavior on my home and work computers.

Best guess is Bluemail is using IMAP, Google website and Gmail are using their API.

Before I spend time on this wondering if anyone else is seeing anything similar. I use PiHole for my network, but I've whitelisted mail.google.com with a wildcard match rule.

Bluemail could be using a separate individualised app password and not your regular Gmail/Google account password. It could still be able log in if you have changed your regular password or had it changed/reset. Try resetting your google account password. Can you log into your Google account in general or is it just Gmail?

I like Bluemail, but noticed quite a few issues over the past month so uninstalled it and went back to the Samsung Email app, which has a few less bells and whistles, but works!

Yes, no problems.

Bluemail is working fine, so is Thunderbird on my PC. Just not the Gmail web app or the gmail app. I think IMAP is working and some other access method is failing.

Firstly try it on a connection where you are not blocking resources that it may need to operate properly.

Duh. Good call.

On re-test, my phone can access the web app in Chrome and the gmail app on wifi and mobile data. On my PC and my work laptop neither Chrome nor Firefox can access the GMail via the web interface, but can via IMAP.

I can access gmail using the web interface from my wife's computer.

Odd combination...

I don't know what the problem was, but it seems solved now. I tried a few different URLs instead of my bookmark, going to gmail.com seems to have fixed it. My original gmail shortcut works now.

Best guess: something changed on the server, my browser cache was out of date. Or gremlins. Probably gremlins.

Thanks all for the thoughts :)

I though I fixed it, but it's coming and going. Something odd is going on. Over time I'll work it out, I'll post if I do. Weird that it works on my wife's laptop.

Tried clearing all cookies and cache?

Tried in incognito mode?

Tried with a different browser?

Q: Tried clearing all cookies and cache?

A: Yes - no change.

Q: Tried in incognito mode?

A: Yes just now. I can log in when in incognito mode, I can view new messages, but I can't delete messages. Right now I can't log in with a non-incognito session, but half an hour ago I could, and I couldn't delete messages then either. I can delete messages with IAMP.

Q: Tried with a different browser?

A: yes tried Firefox earlier, same problem.

Also just tried Firefox on Android, no problem. Same with Chrome on Android. Works perfectly on my wife's laptop.

I've just disabled all extensions, no change. I used MS Edge, I can log in and can view messages but can't delete them and can't send / delete email.

This is really bizarre.

Not sure. Given it's affecting two computers and multiple browsers per computer, but not affecting another computer, I'm at a bit of a loss. I'll try my work laptop again tomorrow, that will be an interesting test.

Given my phone works it's not urgent, just puzzling.

There's an acknowledged problem with Gmail, particularly around sending emails. I've been having problems for a few days, wonder if it's related.
