Hey,

So had some weird stuff happen to my MYSKY HDi Decoder just recently. All up until yesterday my decoder had been working fine, its a multi room decoder as well just fyi. Last year I had it running at my home weekends and flat weekdays all worked fine. Then recently I took it down the bach worked fine as well, last week took it to a mates for the week and again all worked fine.

Now today I moved into a new place, a big block of rooms, all the rooms are hooked up to a satelitte which is wired into the room as a tv aerial female plug. I asked management if I got a converter plug end would my sky work they told me "Yes over 100 people have sky in the building so you shouldn't have any problems" So I brought the tv aerial to f connector female adapter. Went to plug it all in as I normally would and powers up and I get the wee red light next to signal. So I checked all the plugs and cable were screwed in correctly and tried again still no luck. So rang up SKY and long story short they told me to press the reset button but that didnt fix it. So now they tell me I need a call out, I'm only staying there a month or two so declined it, not wanting to pay $50. I thought it could be to do with the LNB settings but I cant even get the active screen where all the options are to load either.

So I decided to take it back to my mates where I had been using it all last week fine so I could record my shows. (He also has sky but the old digital one) I unplug his and plug mine in and low and behold it doesnt work, comes up with the red signal light again >.< So now I know something is up with my decoder or whether it could be to do with how many places I had been plugging my sky decoder into (Is there a limit??) Then I unplug mine and plug his back in, awesome now his is getting rain fade and the signal is UNLOCKED, ring up support they try different LNB settings and what not but still cant get the signal to change to LOCKED. So not only is my decoder not working but now his decoder isnt working.

Anyone here got a clue what could be happening?? Any help would be greatful.

Cheers

Your first issue is almost certainly LNB settings. A simple search here will give you instructions on how to get into the service menu and alter them.

As for your second issue I would guess you damaged the coax seeing as how neither decoder will work now.

I cant even get to the Active Menu, it will only let me view the first two menu screens.

Got my mates sky fixed, was something to do with the voltage from my decoder (MYSKY HDi) and his being the old one.

Hmm weird, I somehow got to the LNB settings and changed it from 11.30 to 10.75 and now I dont get the signal light but I just get updating listings on screen. Does anyone know the full settings load out for the LNB setup?

Am now able to view all the low bit rate channels and watch all my pre recorded shows. Had a look at the signal strength and that seems to be the culprit.

Does anyone know how I could boost the signal?

Would something like this do me any good? http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/tvs/satellite-receivers/auction-453111176.htm

Thanks :)
