Would love to see Lightbox on the PS4 but, in the meantime, I'll be an early adopter. Content looks good and I feel strangely compelled to support this venture.

Wife has agreed to get rid of MySky as we only use it for kids programs and recordings. Just broke out an old Tivo from the garage that has not been opened and i just worked out how to jailbreak my ATV2. Being a telecom customer, i would be keen to look at this to add to my collection. Again +1 on it must be able to connect to the tv by some easy means.

A good idea would be to get Telecom(Spark) to do a partnership with a company that sells a device that would be good for a streaming service e.g. Roku and then sell that device as the official supported device. It would make it easy for people. You would still support other devices though, so have it in a way like how you provide modems with your connections but you don't have to use that modem.

Is there an option to map the play/pause switch to a keyboard key (I.e., space bar)? I only seem to be able to toggle this with a mouse (so much effort!)

Current setup is a laptop connected via HDMI to the telly using a wireless keyboard with a trackpad.

Ps. A very nice experience so far. Does seem to drop frames every now and then but the quality is great.

I am no expert on Plex, but AFAIK there's no DRM support (and transcoding content would be a no-no anyway without studio approval and a full security and control around the transcoding). I'd also question the mass market appeal of it anyway...

We tried using Plex to stream our personal video library. We found it to be very hit and miss.

How long ago? I have had Plex for 5 months, it's been flawless. I don't think I've seen a skipped frame, transcoding problem or refusal to play back anything I have thrown at it so far. It's by FAR the best software of it's type I've come across and I've tried a LOT of them over the years.

As for the complexity of setting it up, well possibly, though it took me less than 3 minutes start to finish.

Yah I have found the PS3 pretty average for streaming with all products having tried a number. I have two fireTV's and 5 android tablets, and 3 windows machines and I stream remotely via the web client to my office PC when I am working late at the office and haven't had any issues so far.

I don't use my ps3 much since my ps4 arrived as I do my playback through my firetv's

I use Plex for two years also to stream to ipads and apple tv only probs is subtitles played up on a rare occasion. Had no proplems playing anything I chucked at it...

Sure it is.

But US sourced content (if not on film) is converted to 1080i/60 (or maybe 720p/60) for broadcast in the US. For international distribution I think it's converted to 1080i/50 with the resulting conversion causing the same speedup for content. So it's no longer a PAL/NTSC issue but a framerate issue.

This is pretty obvious when you watch say a broadcast of US TV show versus the BD of the same show (or a US sourced version).

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't make an 'obvious' difference to the majority of people... At least the difference is a lot less than the difference in quality between streaming and bluray - I've certainly never seen a 20% speed up or slow down (50-->60Hz = +20%) on any media regardless of source. I'm not saying there aren't artefacts, but they're certainly not obvious.

( BTW - technically a change from 60Hz to 50Hz would result in a slower apparent speed, not a speed up - unless frames were removed)
