tdgeek: If it's not ideal tonight, I'd suggest improvements will arise, after all it's a 1.0 and likely to be a rugged test tonight, both ways.

I'm actually surprised at this, you'd expect Sky to ride the RWC wave, then release this model. That deserves a clap IMHO, they appear to be embracing the streaming surge.

But it's not a 1.0... It's LITERALLY a 2.0. Read the first post Press Release :-)

Picture quality on SS1 is excellent, but as the afternoon goes on, it's getting more and more interrupted with picture freezes (notably sound is usually NOT dropping out at the same time)

Cheers - N

Ugh. Was it on Neulion before?

petes117: I can't seem to get rid of the progress bar as well. Tried the suggestions posted earlier but no luck. A right click just brings up the flash player settings menu. Am I doing it wrong?

Occurs in full screen mode, tried Chrome and Firefox, Win7 on a laptop connected to TV via HDMI.

Never mind, just got it to disappear now by leaving the curser in the bottom left corner. Weird but it worked!

Keeping tally here in Chch... In the last ten minutes the quality of SS1 has been Very good/excellent, however there have been 10-11 one or two second stutters where the video freezes and then jumps back to live. It's definitely watchable but it's notably LESS reliable than the dodgy streams available. (Picture quality is however excellent - WAY exceeds any dodgy stream I have ever seen)

It's not my VDSL line, it's not my PC/Browser, it's not the Spark network and it's not our Akamai nodes. I don't know where the issue is, but I am pretty confident about where it's not.

Hope it doesn't get any worse during the actual game!

Cheers - N

Hrmm, starting to see those glitches you mentioned TalkieT, first time I've noticed a performance degradation on any Neulion product.

Guessing its an issue with the feed out of the Sky office given people accessing Skygo

Signed in now. Thought I'd try and compare it to sky while I've got it. Looks ok on a 30Mb fibre feed. Maybe a little stop start. And just as I said that it froze. Now back to the Satellite feed.

Seems to be running smoothly here (Rotorua), and nice quality.  Win 8, FF, Spark Fibre100 (Spark DNS)

Complete opposite for me in Dunedin. Using UFB (Gigatown) and I've had one slight stall in the first 30min of the game. 720p looks great on my Panasonic plasma. I'd swear I was watching the sky satellite broadcast if I didn't know better

Running IE tonight with the PC plugged directly in via HDMI. Win  7.
I'll watch the second half via chrome and see if it differs (I know for netflix chrome does not do 1080)

Seems to be running fine now I'm running it off my laptop lugged into the TV.  Kept lagging while using it in Airplay (off my iPad) on Apple TV.

Going well on VDSL in palmy.

Fixed to 720p

Reports of stuttering in whanganui on ADSL but switching to best quality looks to be filling in the blanks.

Take a bow (so far) Sky...

My half time report. A solid 8/10. getting rid of the periodic pauses (every 60 seconds or so - not exactly) would take it to 9.5, and doing it all in 1080 would take it to 10/10.

It's so much better than SkyGo EVER was...

And FWIW, it's the largest night for our Akamai servers with the exception of the first night Win10 was available for download. Still well within capacity but clearly pumping out a fair bit of rugby traffic.

Pretty entertaining game as well :-)

Now all I can really whinge about is the price!

Cheers - N
