I haven't received the update yet.  Its a mysky+ box. Just wondering if it is because my box isn't connected to the telephone line or Lan???  I don't receive emails from sky anymore as i unsubscribed from their spam email.

Still not too sure if I want the upgrade!!!

LAN doesn't work on a non upgraded box, and the upgrade comes via Satellite so it doesn't matter if its not connected to a phone line either.

wont have a choice about the upgrade, may as well just force it to upgrade manually

Any reason why sky themselves haven't come out and said how to do it manually? am I missing something?

again the upgrade comes over satellite it doesn't care if you have a phone or wifi connection, it comes when you are scheduled to come, unless you force it to do the upgrade via the key press combination.

the upgrade enabled the Ethernet connection on the sky box so until then it wont be able to connect to your network

no your not missing something they want to progressively roll it out so they don't have issues with peoples boxes not working, the key press combo was found for a UK sky box and it just so happens to work with our ones too.

Has anyone else had trouble with the skylink WiFi boxes? Can't get mine to connect. Tried to manually enter the details but I noticed it said dhcp status off and I couldn't chnage that. Not a 100% but I think I need that on. Can't think of any reason why it won't join my network.

Is it an older Thompson telecom router? (Boxy and white lights in the bottom right and a silver button in the middle front)
Those have been known not to assign up addresses to the skylinks

I have now downloaded a few on demand movies and on all of them the quality of the sound is really poor. I have to have both the Sky STB and TV switched up to 100 volume and even then it is hard to hear properly. I have fiddled around with the settings that I can but to no reward.

The STB is connected via HDMI to my Samsung TV.

Anyone else have the same problem?

My MySky updated overnight.

A bit of a surprise as I didnt get any email saying it was going to happen.

I cant check out much at the moment as "atmospheric conditions" are in play, again.

Sky came round today and replaced my old silver digital (non-MySky) decoder with the new one.

Was able to connect to internet with wifi (its built in, so need for an adapter) and download and watch an on-demand movie.

Was NOT able to use live-pause or live-rewind though. Seems I have to pay extra for that. GRR!

The menu is a lot more responsive than it is on the normal MySkyHDi box though.

I wonder if I can get Sky to changeover their roles. Turn new one into a recording unit, and the old one into a multi-room unit.

Does anyone know if the new boxes have a larger hard drive than the old ones?

It puzzles me that given the plummeting price of large capacity drives they don't have a premium model with a 4TB or 6TB hard drive.

I can understand legacy kit having what it came with at the time. But having such a tiny drive in new boxes where they are trying to attract and retain customers is a bit odd.

I personally am interested to see what the boxes do next.

Once h264 is in play the size will change I would think... but I agree with you, then again ordering 500,000 units might have put the project back Further...

A lot of people have been complaining about not being able to see the font on whatever screens regarding the new software, can I suggest that the reason my be not using correct cabling and not using the hd ticket, as I have both of these and have no issues with seeing the writing although grey on grey isn't the best idea, I don't find it hard to see at all. Sky have suggested adjusting the contrast. but so much the above as a combination.

HD ticket has no influence over the rendering of the interface.
