I had to avoid this thread as I was working during the race. All in all it was good, I quite enjoyed it but I'm always skeptical at the start of the season with so many changes. Will be interesting to see how long teams can turn around, doesn't always take them long.

Not impressed with seeing cars retire to save being penalised.

If they don't retire they will wear their bits out of which they are only allowed five of each a year

The 12000 rpm might be due to the turbo set up.

In general you have so much low down torque you don't need the top end horses. No one needed 8th gear in Melbourne so why rev higher than what they need.

I'll explain more when I Jane a laptop. This s4 is hotels at typing

what happens if all the  teams go through all 5 engine things , does that mean there would be a race with no cars competing ?

Common sense is not as common as you think.

No, they get penalised, cant recall either 5 or 10 placed back on the grid

LOL, so when all teams use up their engine allowances they all get put back ten places..........

Yeah that's what I was meaning and I got the impression that was the reason for the Hamilton and Vettle retirements.

Also, just found out Riccardo was DSQ due to a fuel flow breach. This is BS.

Hamilton retired as he wa son 5 cylinders thats why he got passed on turn one, and he knew that as he lined up
Vettel had both ERS units nopt working, so he got swamped, being down 160hp on everyone else. He also knew that as he lined up

I can't remember who it was, but there was a radio transmission from the team telling someone to retire to save the engine. I thought it was one of those two.

That was Hamilton, they later confirmed that he was on 5 cylinders not 6.

That was Hamilton, he kept on for another lap then flagged it, probably hoping the lost cylinder would fire up. Save the engine is fair enough, there are no points on offer, cannot fix in pits soon enough, so fair to save the engine
