Ah ok - different story then. Not much saving you can do at that stage. So how does that work, can they do limited repairs to the engine now or do they suffer a penalty no matter what?

I think they can repair the engines components per se, but sometimes the engines need replacing due to full wear and this is where they only have 5; much like they had 8 last season. The issue is the PU are so much more complicated and run a lot hotter that the components may fail quicker.

The way it is now the final result for a race will take longer in the review hearings than the actual race and the lawyers will be the main participants the drivers only a added annoyance to the whole thing.

F1 used to be about speed, handling, team work, design and innovation and the primary feature being speed. Now it's rule books at twenty paces.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

As long as I can remember F1 has always had it's fair share of rule protests!

That would make sense to me. I couldn't easily find the answer so I was wondering at what point they would consider a repair a replacement.

True, it seems more prevalent now but it does in most sport

Well that was a pretty cool race in the end, namely because it was a bit more of a level playing field.
Fast forward a few years and I really don't mind not having the huge dish jungle gym in my back yard any more...
