The free to air channels are available via the pod as part of the standard package.  No 'seperate app' to see them or record them.

There is one single remote control to rule them all.  With google voice control as well :-)

The Sky Pod essentially behaves exactly like the new Sky Box except it is internet only, no satellite required. (Edit: and no in-built hard disk for recording obviously :-)

I notice from the pre-order email terms and conditions that Sky reckon they own the Sky Box/Pod:

"We continue to own the Sky Box or Sky Pod and all other equipment we provide you, and you will need to return it to us if you cancel.  See our Consumer Terms for further details."   I can understand that with the Sky Box (and satellite dish), but If I'm paying $100 upfront for the Sky Pod I expect to own it outright. Yes, I know it's of no use without a Sky subscription but I can't see any justification in Sky claiming ownership it.

I can’t say as I’m bothered about technically owning it.

Also, if it breaks in 3 year’s time, as they own it, they would have to cover the cost of replacement.

If your house is robbed and the thieves steal the SKY POD are you liable for the costs for a replacement? Will you need to pay SKY another $100 to get another or will get you another for free? Or will you need to pay $100 to get another plus any other costs for the loss of the item due to being robbed?

I expect it will be like the old myskys where they make you liable for an absurd amount (over 1000) to cover the box assuming that you will put it on your insurance, and when the box is recovered they will not let anyone use it or take it back for a refund of what was paid to them.

2nd Dec i got an email to pre-order my SkyPod.

Main part of Email says:
"Important pre-ordering information
If you pre-order a new Sky Box it will be couriered to you in late January 2023, but a technician will install a satellite dish as soon as possible at no additional cost (based on a standard installation).
If you pre-order a Sky Pod it will also be couriered to you in November."

Obviously thats not likely given it was already Dec...

At the very bottom of the email in the T&C's it says

"Important pre-order information If you select a Sky Box you’ll need to book a Sky technician to install or replace your satellite dish. There is no additional cost for a standard installation. We estimate Sky Boxes and Sky Pods will be shipped in January and will arrive within 1-3 working days. We’ll let you know if there’s a delay."

Purchased it anyway and got a reply email with my account number telling me i would get a verification email to setup my account.....
"You’ll receive another email from us shortly asking you to verify your account."

Nothing since then..

Hoping its all in plan... given its not till Jan ill give them the benefit of the doubt but im still dubious...

Anyone else get the same?

I got exactly the same email.

I suspect that November was the original target date for despatch, and they just forgot to update the email after the dates slipped.

I pre-ordered a Sky Pod. I still had a very old inactive Sky account, and they just reactivated it, so I didn't have to go through verifying an account.

I have two Vodafone TV Retail boxes for which I do not subscribe to Sky, and I have not received anything in the way of an email as yet of an offer of a Sky Box or a Sky Pod from Sky. I wonder if they have forgotten us non existing Sky subscribers of Vodafone TV?

At the moment, it looks like they are focusing on retaining existing paying customers.

I doubt that they have enough of the new equipment to start making offers to potential new customers, and with the current supply constraints, I don't think they'll be able to offer anything to new customers for many months yet.

Yeah that's what i would have thought. Their primary objective is to secure the current paying customers who could fall off, Then maybe new customers, then existing customers (last 2 interchangeable dependent on how much noise comes from existing customer base)

You should have all the details to log into your newly created Sky account. Sky also now have a My Account app.

All i have is the account number and my email. Login is done via email address and password. I havent setup a password.

I could go through the "Register" screen but worried that could cause an account issue if its setup in the background but not an active profile

You could always use the [Reset password] or [Forgot password] to see if there's an account linked to your email.
