Signed up for the beta (thanks GZ and Lightbox).

I must say I am very impressed with the content. Lots of shows I have yet to watch (Vikings, House of Cards, 24).

Definitely got my $15 a month!

Now I need to figure out the best way to watch it on the telly!

Had a bit of a play with this at lunchtime, and here are my initial thoughts/findings.

Silverlight plugin (upgraded at the behest of Microsoft) crashes in Chrome & Safari (on OSX Mavericks). Works on Firefox. I had it working on Chrome initially, but at lunchtime I couldn't get it to work at all. I'll re-install the plugin and see if that helps.

Using Airplay from my MacBook Pro to my Apple TV is sub-optimal. Picture doesn't take up full screen, mouse pointer is always visible, and there is a version number rendered in the bottom right corner. But the worst part with this combo is that audio is out of sync with video by about 1/2 a second.

Using Airplay from my iPad to my Apple TV seemed to start OK, but after about 2 minutes viewing it paused. I tried to start it again, but the Apple TV said 'An error occurred loading this content. Try again later'.  This has occurred twice so far. Wn

On the plus side, the audio and video quality was pretty awesome when using the iPad/Apple TV combo. If stability can be obtained there, this would be a more than acceptable way to watch.

Edit: Had the stream stop a third time using the Apple TV/iPad combo. Seems to last around 2 minutes before it chokes. It also loses its place in the iPad app when this happens, and the UI is placed at the next episode in the series being watched.

Had no problems with Silverlight in any of the four PCs I tried, both in IE and Chrome.

Hi guys,

If you happen to be running a DNS/VPN service (or just using an alternative DNS), please try and disable it if you're having streaming issues.

Please let me know about it whether you see an improvement or not.

Good catch :-)

I recall you mentioning that earlier in the thread. I'll try disabling our DNS and see if that makes a difference to stability. Won't be able to give that a crack until tonight though.

Also had a quick play over lunch. Does anyone else get mixed content (ie http & https) error in IE and Chrome?

Nice so far. One issue I have had is that I had the stream just stop on the iPad app and could not get it to restart. So decided to restart it by closing it and reopening it. However I cannot scrub to the place where it hanged. It will only play whats downloaded so I have to watch the start over again or I guess wait for it to buffer.

Double check Chrome, its not as noticeable, usually there is a shield icon next the the Bookmark icon (the start on the right of the URL bar).

Got it.

Just tried casting from Chrome to the Chromecast. Blank screen and no audio.

First impression:

There are some nice little touches from a design Point-of-View that I like, changing/disabling the buttons & cursor when submitting forms, forcing authentication to change settings, etc.

One thing I wonder about, with the Profiles, it forces the creation of a profile-switcher PIN, if all profiles are R-rated, isn't the need for a switcher PIN moot?

Additionally, I agree with other comments, quite a few missing episodes, Seinfeld (pretty sure Season 1 didn't have 4 episodes, and have an early-life numbering crisis and decided to skip #3), Community has a large chunk of Season 1, and smaller chunk of Season 3 missing. Apparently Friday Night Lights had zero Season 1 episodes.  Could get frustrating quick I think.  (Side note, all those 3 I think were NBC/Universal/Sony licensed stuff common thing?)

I've missed out on an invite (dammit!!!) so I can't comment in depth, but wasn't it explained earlier that content wasn't going to be fully available during the beta? This could explain the "gaps" - if content is being drip-fed rather than being made available in "season" chunks, that would make sense....
