loceff13: Sky got a sweetheart deal for igloo, like I've said a few times..They have no interest in being competitive and igloo is just a means to pretend they somewhat are and the market isn't completely cornered.

I disagree.

Right now Igloo is an exceptionally competitive offering. If you're in the market for a DVB-T STB for a TV you'd have to be crazy to buy anything else.

Not if you want to record anything during the night it isn't. The two DVB-T STBs I've had in the past were quite capable of recording to external equipment at any time to my old DVD recorder.
My Pace basic Sky box records to external equipment overnight without shutting itself down so why can't Igloo as it's also a Pace box.

Steve is clear: DVB-T STB. This is different of a DVB-T DVR. You want a DVR, some people want a STB only.

You can set a reminder using the guide - Igloo box will turn itself on at the appropriate time and off afterwards. Equivalent to booking a program with the Pace basic Sky box. Program the DVD recorder to record at the appropriate time (as you must already be doing)

Igloo the box may be competitive for what it does when compared with other DVB-T STBs. However I still wouldn't buy it on principle - I can't bring myself to give them or anyone else any of my money for something which is so laden/hobbled with DRM.

OK, Point taken. I was mixing up two different threads with my replies.
Probably is a good bet as STB  if you don't have a Freeview TV and don't want Sky but not much use if you want to record anything overnight.
Unfortunately the Basic package doesnt have the Sky channels I normally watch so of no use to me. Now if they added History and a few others I just might ditch Sky.

Perhaps the Igloo needs to retune to the Igloo mux to check for software downloads and recive the EPG data?
